Eezy-Peezy. While in Prescott for a visit a few weeks ago got my prints done at the local Sheriff Station, $5 for two cards. Mailed application the following Monday, exactly two weeks later I got my card in the mail.

Wife sent her renewal in on June 30, new permit arrived on July 14.

For CA CCW holders: what did you put for the section where it asks of the name of the organization, governmental org or military branch for the Firearms Qualification and statutory affidavit

I simply put "LAPD CCW" for that portion. (issuing agency may vary)
I also provided a copy of front and back of the card as well.

I had accidentally left that part blank but I had provided copies F/R of my CA CCW. I got the packet back ?incomplete? so I just put my AZ Hunter Ed Certificate number. They didn?t need any additional documents.

Nice!
I'll keep everyone posted on my application, should arrive by Monday.
I also did my own fingerprints, gave them 3 copies.
Hope they accept that as well.

Good luck to everyone!

For those who had their papers returned, due to missing info. Did you reprint new docs and filled it out or did you just add the required paperwork they are requesting? Reason why I asked is because my original paperwork has some red ink correction on it.

I just fixed the highlighted portion and returned via the envelope. I didn?t reprint any documents.

Man I don't know what's going on with mine . I sent in May I believe and finally heard back like 6 weeks later my prints weren't good

I resubmitted the letter with new prints June 27 and still haven't heard a thing back.

My only concern is I had a stop mail on most of July b/c vacation and when they delivered the mail there didn't seem to be much there....wonder if they lost some.

In any case I'll be on the phone with AZ CCW tomorrow and see what's going on. Wonder if my prints failed again

Email them, same thing happened to me. I emailed them back on May 2023 asking for status, they replied after 2 days that my prints was rejected and will receive a rejection letter. I did my prints again with another place, sent it back. After about 15 days, i emailed them again asking for status, they said my new prints were entered into the system today with a new application number and it will take 24 hrs to process and check back again. I did email them again after 24 hrs and they responded the next day saying my permit was issued and I will receive it in the mail. Mine took more than 2 months because of my fingerprint error. It is better if you follow up everytime through email. Calling them takes a while waiting on the phone. :-)

Thanks for the information! I appreciate hearing your experiences. I will give them an email. I have emailed them before and it takes a bit to get a response, but at least they do respond!

I still worry about my 2nd prints. I got them at the same place b/c they redid them for free. But the first time I realized I was way too sweaty and they were very smudged. So this time I took a towel and dried my fingertip between each print and we really took our time.

This is beyond frustrating. I called today. They said my 2nd set of prints failed as well

Damnit. Now I gotta get a third set of prints.

Does anyone know of any place that will either
1. Do decent prints
2. Do electronic prints and print them

Sent application in in mid May and still don't have my card. Shouldn't have gone to the cheapest place for prints I guess. Now I gotta pay another $60 for prints as I'm not going back to the same place even if they give me free prints again.

Maybe I'll try rolling myself

Here's a quick Google result in San Fran that does electronic scan and then prints on fingerprint cards: https://www.leetonephotocenter.com/l...ingerprinting/

As discussed in an earlier page of this thread, doing electronic and then printed means the fingerprints are guaranteed to be accepted because the scanner will tell you if there is any smudging.

For anyone near huntington beach area/OC, I recommend California Live Scan

https://www.california-livescan.com/

I got mine done in 2017 for my AZ CCW as well as my CA COE in 2018 and had no issues with my fingerprint cards or livescan. My fingerprints were not coming out clear enough so had to do a few times to get it right, but the operator was patient and professional. I was in and out pretty quickly and the roll fee for the ink cards was reasonable (probably still is). Given how long it can take to get your AZ CCW (depending on how backed up they are) I was glad I paid a little more $ to have it done right the first time. Wasn't going to be pennywise and pound foolish when trying to get my fingerprints done, since it takes that much longer to get your permit if your prints get rejected and u have to submit another set.

Thanks for the info! I actually found Certifix as well
- https://www.certifixlivescan.com/fin...san-francisco/

I called both places and both were super friendly. Both do scan to print. Both have great reviews online.

Certifix is $35 for 1 card, $10 for each additional = $45 total
LeetOne is $32 per card = $64 total

Certifix is like 1/2 mile from Power BART
LeetOne is like 1/2 mile from Embarcadero BART

side note: I hate BART but I also don't want to drive in traffic and then have my car broken into.

Looks like I'll be making a trip on BART in the next 2 weeks. Should have done this right away. Already wasted $60 on cards and shipping. Going to be another $70 for BART, new cards, and shipping - But I'm in this deep. Can't quit now!

Quick question: for renewal it says for proof of identity an "Official Copy" of my Drivers License is acceptable, but to not send the actual/original card.

Is a standard photocopy of the front and back of my CA DL acceptable, or is an "official copy" something I need to get elsewhere?

Quick Update on my process:
7/7/23 - Sent Application
7/10/23 - Application Received
7/21/23 - Asking for additional documents
7/24/23 - Sent Additional document that was requested
8/1/23 - Emailed saying Permit issued and is being sent out via usps on 8/2/23

I should have it in my mail box this week. Pretty quick turnaround. Would of been quicker if additional paperwork wasn't needed.

Hi all,

Was looking at the AZ application and training section 13-3112 and it reads as though the training I just did for LASD CCW with an NRA certified instructor is sufficient to now apply for AZ CCW:

"N. An applicant shall demonstrate competence with a firearm through any of the following:

1. Completion of any firearms safety or training course or class that is available to the general public, that is offered by a law enforcement agency, a junior college, a college or a private or public institution, academy, organization or firearms training school and that is approved by the department of public safety or that uses instructors who are certified by the national rifle association."

Can anyone confirm that's the case? I've been under the impression I had to wait for my CCW to be issued before applying with AZ.

The training or CCW will satisfy.

I used my training as proof when I first applied. Just ensure the certificate has an NRA number on it.

I used my hunter's safety card. Which I didn't have but paid $25 and took a 8 hour online self course course and passed that.

"You must attach a firearms-safety certificate of completion or document demonstrating firearm competence. This may include an NRA certificate of completion, a certificate of completion of any course instructed by a current NRA certified instructor, a certificate or card from a hunter education or safety course, another state?s permit (if approved by DPS"

Granted I haven't received my CCW permit yet b/c of fingerprinting issues. But I was assured by AZ CCW department that my CA hunter's safety card would be sufficient for CCW in their state.

They received my packet on Saturday July 22 and my permit showed up yesterday.

Monday was July 24th and issue date was July 27th. That was 4 weekdays to process and issue my permit.

I provided three documents (front side copies only) along with the application, payment and fingerprints. Fingerprints were taken at OCSD

1) Ca driver license
2) Current CA CCW
3) Old expired (2019) AZ CCW

Yes, the training works under #1, and if you have a California CCW, then you can just send a scan of the front and back of the California CCW to satisfy the Arizona training requirement under #6. Either one will work.

Your expired AZ CCW alone was all that was needed.

Hey guys, another question for the group since my search efforts failed...

I ordered a fingerprint pad and some FD-258s from amazon with the plan to roll my own prints, but re-read the instructions and it says I need to use a "qualified fingerprint technician".

I know I've read of others rolling their own, and I assume it's actually not a big deal so long as their legible (?).

My main question is - can anyone tell me what to put for the ORI number? It looks like UCN isn't required.

Also, in my search I read somewhere that all boxes need to be filled out - does this mean "NA" is required for boxes, or can I actually just leave them blank?

Very Strange (bolded for emphasis) An expired AZ CCW is expressly mentioned...

ARS 13-3112. Concealed weapons; qualification; application; permit to carry; civil penalty; report; applicability

A. The department of public safety shall issue a permit to carry a concealed weapon to a person who is qualified under this section. The person shall carry the permit at all times when the person is in actual possession of the concealed weapon and is required by section 4-229 or 4-244 to carry the permit. If the person is in actual possession of the concealed weapon and is required by section 4-229 or 4-244 to carry the permit, the person shall present the permit for inspection to any law enforcement officer on request.

E. The department of public safety shall issue a permit to an applicant who meets all of the following conditions:

...

6. Has ever demonstrated competence with a firearm as prescribed by subsection N of this section and provides adequate documentation that the person has satisfactorily completed a training program or demonstrated competence with a firearm in any state or political subdivision in the United States. For the purposes of this paragraph, "adequate documentation" means:

(a) A current or expired permit issued by the department of public safety pursuant to this section.

Just an FYI here.. for all those of you who are renewing, seems AZ is waiting until such as to send out renewed permits so you receive them very close to its expiration date. Mine expires 8/7 ; sent in my renewal packet on June 6. MO was cashed on 6/14. Then nothing until I emailed/called them 7/28 and 8/1.
Was on hold for an hour and nice lady told me nothing was wrong and permit would be mailed out on 8/2. I received it yesterday, 8/7 the exact date of my expiration.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they at least told you that and that nothing was amiss with your renewal application.

Wonder if others here are seeing similar 'timeline' for their renewals?
Looks like the first time applications are getting done, which is good.. probably should prioritize those over renewals PROVIDED 'us renewals get 'them with some decent 'margin' before they expire.

I'm curious, what do they consider "too long"?

My AZ expired early 2022, could not do a plain renewal because it was too far expired, so I had to reapply for a new one. All they needed was my expired AZ permit, the application fee, and fingerprints... got my new CCW in less than 2 weeks.

You can always try to sneak one past them and roll your own prints. When that doesn't work, I'm a CA certified fingerprint technician.

As far as what needs to be filled out on the cards go, AZ use to provide instructions on EXACTLY which boxes and HOW to fill out each box. No ORI number is required. No employer info, etc.

Per the statute I mentioned above - its good forever as 'competence documentation'

I suspect that in Swiftone's case there was a misunderstanding about 'proof of training' vs 'renewal of an expired permit' Its also possible that whomever they spoke with made a simple mistake.

Another guy here that rolled his own prints and received his permit. It took about 3 weeks to come in the mail from the time that I mailed out the packet at USPS.
I even had typos on both fingerprint cards when I was filling in the boxes - corrected the mistakes with that whiteout roller device. I was expecting that the cards would possibly be rejected but they made the grade.

I made some copies of the fingerprint cards and did some practice rolls before doing the final fingerprinting. This was all done last month.
