Submitted on 5/17. Received a letter in the mail today that my fingerprints weren't clear enough so I have to get them redone

Does anyone know if they'll accept electronic fingerprints? Otherwise I'll have to pay $40+ to get them redone. The cheapest place I found was $40 but apparently they aren't good at them

Every other place I called was like $60 or more for 2 cards. What a pain. Looks like I won't have my permit before I leave on vacation.

Ah... sorry to hear that. Guess that explains why it took so long to hear or get something.

I had my livescan fingerprints last year at a local livescan place in SoCal. When I got my LASD CCW permit, I filled out the Arizona application and called the same livescan place and they said they would do the hard cards for me. I took two cards to them and they livescanned my prints again and then printed them onto the hard cards. (they were the FBI cards I got off Amazon.) They said they do that because the livescan machine will tell them if they got a good print, so the printed cards always work. You might check with a livescan place near you. I have lots of experience with getting people fingerprinted in the old days with rolling ink, and about 50% of those got rejected by the FBI in my experience, so doing the livescan and then printing cards from the scans seems like a great improvement.

That's some great info. I was reading a bit about this online as well. I'm not sure if the LiveScan people near me can print onto the cards. I've called to a bunch of UPS stores and maybe 15% or so actually do fingerprint cards. Pretty much all of them seem to do livescan though. I wonder if one of the places that does livescan and ink fingerprints would be able to print the live scan onto their own cards.

I'm definitely going to ask about it. I got the livescan done for my California CCW application (still pending b/c my county is like a 10-12 month backlog).

I think my fingers were too sweaty when I went in and the girl doing them didn't seem very confident. If I have to do ink I'll talk a towel and wipe sweat off during the process.

I would go back to the place you had them done and see if they'll redo them for free. I don't really follow what others do but, I try to always let people know that I will (and have) redone prints that have been rejected for whatever reason.

I'm not planning a trip to the Peninsula anytime soon but, if you happen to be heading down my way soon, I charge $25 total for 2 cards for AZ.

I'll give them a call tomorrow and ask if they'll at least give me a discount of some sorts. I found another UPS store that will do them but it's $30 each (the place I went was $25 per card so I wasted $50 already ). But I figured for $30 per card maybe I'd try a different place.

It seems here in northern California I can't find any place that will electronically scan and print. There is 1 service that offers it an they have 1 location in San Francisco, but I'm not spending hours going into the city, riding BART, trying to find parking, etc. Too much hassle IMO.

I'm going to try ink prints again and take a towel along to keep my fingers dry. I knew they were pretty sweaty doing it so that may have caused smudging. But they still looked OK to me. This is getting expensive! heh.

Where are you located btw?

Congrats!! That's a fast turn around. Btw, the AZ CCW people who answer the phone are just the best people. Always super nice and helpful and seem to actually enjoy what they do and care.

Did you do ink fingerprint cards btw?

Drink lots of water and use moisturizing lotion on your hands a couple hours prior to having your prints rolled. They are more pronounced when you are properly hydrated.

Local Sheriff's office ran my prints and supplied the cards, too. I think it was $20 or $25 each for the cards.
Sent via plain ol' cheap, untracked USPS on 6/12, the permit arrived yesterday.
It's small - easily fits in a wallet - and purty - holograms and all. 5 year expiration.

Yes, ink on the FBI cards. Went to the local Postal Annex and the person working happen to be the owner/operator so he knew the process and how the inked results should look like.

So great advice and you saved me $50 bucks!! They redid them for free since I mentioned that last time I went there they were rejected.

They look much clearer this time. Some seemed a little light but better than last time. Last time between my fingers being a bet sweaty and her pushing them way too hard it was all a bunch of smudges. These looked pretty clear.

Sent today via USPS priority mail. Fingers crossed this set of prints works!

You don't need prints for renewals.

Some locations have the cards on hand.

GREAT!

Yesterday I rolled prints for a calgunner with a slight deformity to one of his fingers. The prints came out a bit blurry so, I told him to send them in and see if they work before paying me. He lives about 2 hours away and I didn't want to force him to return to me if the prints are rejected. I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of you.

The staff in the CWP office absolutely rock. I submitted an address change request via email, 10 seconds later got a reply due to the high volume it might take additional time to process, not even 10 mins later I received another email stating the change had been made.

Great folks doing great work

On the process of doing the Arizona CCW. Best Way to get the FD-258 fingerprints done. Does UPS store do them?

Some may but I doubt it.

Call ahead. Check with notary/livescam shops.

Try a few local LEAs and even city halls.

Thanks. That's the lowest price I've heard of from a private entity, in CA, in years. I'll stick to my price of $25 for both cards because, I'm doing it to promote carry instead of making a profit.

Fair price for $25. Even $38 isn?t outrageous.

I think when I got FL done at a PD, it was ~$35 (2019).

FL one requires one fingerprint card. AZ requires 2 cards so, you would have had to pay $70 in 2019 if you were applying for an AZ permit.

Looks like I messed up. I think it was $20, not $35.

Now they charge $30 for one card. Beneficial for FL as fingerprints need to be taken by a LEA.

$35 for two cards in case anyone is in OC area.
