Black's Creek Idaho M1 Garand matches
Don't know if anyone here is interested, but Garand matches are held every 1st Tuesday of the month during the summer. They start at around 5:30, and consist of the standard Highpower course of fire - 10 rounds slow fire off-hand, 10 rounds rapid fire sitting, 10 rounds rapid fire prone, and 20 rounds slow fire prone. Targets are at 200 yards.
While it is "officially" a Garand match, No one really cares what you shoot and all are welcome. There are a lot of AR's and M1A's on the line, as well as other rifles. Great bunch of friendly folks, and a ton of fun. Come on out if you can - you will have a good time.

Thanks for the info, bigboss. They used to have many fun matches, including fun silhouette shoots for rimfires and 30 M1 carbines, but I haven't found a 2023 match schedule for blacks creek.

Too bad it's so far from me. The Navy Garand hasn't seen the outside world in a few years. This thread made me open the case and fondle it for a bit, and admire it's wooden curves.

OP Good on you, going back to that Bill the Cat avatar. If it ain't broke why fix it?
Not an expat (yet) but matches like this can be fun. You Idaho expats, be sure to enjoy if you can give it a whirl. I did a few such matches 20-30 years ago here in SoCal and then when my oldest hit 17-18 years old, busted out the CMP Garand I got him when he was born and started doing them again. Hurts so good!

This Garand match is over for the season. The last match was held on 9/5.
Small brag - this match is an aggregate match for the 6 months that it runs. At the end of the season, two awards are given - one for high aggregate with a Garand, and another for high aggregate with a service rifle. I took both.
