Congrats!!

My saga has been going on since May b/c my fingerprints failed twice!!

This time I went into San Francisco and got electronic prints printed onto a card (not ink...ink kept smudging).

So my app and MO have been cashed for a while, they were just waiting on my prints. They received my prints today. Your timeline gives me hope that within 2 weeks I'll have my card!!

Congrats again

This has been beyond frustrating......

Initial app in June I believe.

First ink prints rejected..
2nd ink prints redone by the same place....rejected
3rd prints I rode an hour train into the city to get prints scanned and printed.....rejected

I'll call back tomorrow and find out if the prints are being rejected or if I am being rejected maybe for some reason?

I don't know what else to do at this point. Go back into the city and tell them they failed and see if they'll redo for free? Buy a kit on Amazon and send in like 10 sets that I roll myself? About ready to give up at this point but I've already put so much into it.

Maybe it’s your fingerprints.

When I had my prints scanned and then printed onto the hard cards, the girl doing the prints explained to me that the machine will indicate immediately whether or not the prints are good. She said that since the machine accepted them, they would be good on the printed cards. She said this when the machine rejected one of the prints and she immediately redid it and the machine accepted it. I think you should call and see what the rejection reason is because that sounds wrong to me if the cards are being rejected.

YA, I thought the same thing. I went to Certifix in San Francisco. That guy does like 10-12 prints a day. I'm pretty sure he knew what he was doing. He did a test print and redid a few fingers to ensure they were all good. I called AZ CCW office and they didn't give a reason.....just said rejected. I'll call Monday morning and find out what's going on.

I did see that my local Sherriff office will do them for $35 for 2 cards. But now I'm in this for like $150 just on prints and postage to send prints in - If they don't accept my Sherrif office prints I don't know what else to do. Or I go back to Certifix and have them redo (I"m guessing they'll redo for free)

I simply cannot believe how easy this was. I am a current CA CCW holder and rolled my own prints.

Mailed: 8/24
Received: 8/28
Approved CCW: picked up from my mailbox today 9/9

In my hands 13 days from receipt, just jaw dropping. :-)

Email them for status.

I sent my renewal in well ahead of cutoff and thirty days out got a letter reminding me that my license would expire soon.

I went to the bank that issued the Certified Check I used to pay and got a copy of the cancelled check, including the backside which provided the name of the AZDPS employee who endorsed it. I emailed that to AZDPS along with the original application information. five days later the license appeared in my mail.

Sometimes the paperwork gets stuck.

Getting my prints done at the Sherriff tomorrow....this will be my 4th attempt at sending in prints _ If this doesn't work I'll just get a stack of like 10 cards and roll my own and send all 10 cards in

Another fast timeline/turnaround time:

CA CCW Course: 9/2 - 9/3
Sent in AZ App + Money Order: 9/4
MO cashed: 9/14
Permit Issued: 9/11
Physical permit in hand: 9/18

AZ is quicker than CA... still waiting on the chief of my local PD to "sign off" on my permit + pickup...

They emailed me back and stated they issued my permit the same day I emailed them. I guess they are just sitting on the renewals and waiting until someone asks about them to issue.

Congrats!! It sounds like a lot of people are rolling there own prints. Which does make some sense b/c you can just roll a bunch and take the best ones. Gives me hope that if I'm rejected AGAIN to try and roll my own. I've had them done enough times now to know how to do it.

If you guys have been following my story you know I've had prints rejected 3 times! from 2 different places including 1 scan and print professional place. I send my set done from the sheriff office on 9/13, they arrived 9/15. At this point based on others' time frames, it's not looking good for me again

Glad to hear all the members here getting CCW in CA, AZ, and other states.

I'm at a loss. 3 difference places and 3 sets of prints rejected. I'm about ready to give up at this point . No idea what else I can do here. I guess I just have terrible fingers for taking prints.

Are you doing ink prints or live scan?

I did 2 sets of ink. 1 set I actually did the scan device where they scan and then print them. The guy doing the scan to print even had me redo a couple after he printed a test sheet. He looked them over and they all seemed great to him. Not sure what's going on here.

I guess I can take the train back into the city (45 minutes each way) and ask if they'll redo them for free.

1 of the ink sets was at sheriff's office but that lady didn't seem to have much of a clue what she was doing.

Thinking of getting and ink pad and 25 cards on amazon ($16) and just doing like 10 cards and sending them in).

Anybody renew AZ recently? I sent my app in over a month ago and haven’t seen anything. Pretty sure my original permit showed up in less than 30 days.

Are they running slow right now?

Yes they are running super slow on renewals it seems. Email them a week before you expire and it will be magically issued.

Welp? just got a return email regarding my renewal status. They are in the middle of a system update. They can?t even check to verify whether or not my app was received. Scheduled to be up and running again after October 12.

I will suggest going to a different LEA to get them done. LEAs roll plenty of prints everyday and know what they're doing when it comes to harder to roll prints.

I might be heading back to the Peninsula before the end of the year. If so, I can meet you somewhere and roll a few cards with you on the condition that you pay for them AFTER you've received your AZ permit.

Thanks for the suggestion and potential offer! Ya, the lady working at LEA seemed to be some sort of receptionist or something. She wasn't an officer or anything but it was clear she had rolled a lot of prints. But she didn't seem to really care or try that hard. Just going through the motions.

I would have thought Certifix in the city with the scan to print would have worked. Shocked that that didn't as their entire job/company is basically prints. I am calling them to see if they'll do a free reprint. But that's another $15 in public transportation and 3 hours out of my day.

If you head back this direction please do let me know! I'd appreciate it. I guess my other option is to roll my own with about $15 worth of Amazon supplies.

i sent in my AZ permit around mid September and I haven't received anything yet. I go on the AZDPS website and nothing found. On the tracking to the PO box. I says that it was picked up. I see everyone gets there's within a month.

My understanding is that they were doing a system upgrade for at least a week or two during the end of September and beginning of October. Their systems just came back online on October 12th.

I'm guessing they have a bit of delay now b/c of their systems being down for a while. I tried to call today but was the 20th caller in queue at 8:10 this morning! I'm not waiting that long. When I call now it doesn't even tell me what number I am in the queue. It just says "You are currently the......." then the music starts. I think they are probably overwhelmed right now.

But definitely try to call them and see if, like me, your fingerprints were rejected. They don't always send you a letter telling you they were rejected. Sometimes they just don't tell you anything unless you call.

If you study the AZ application information closely, you can by-pass the phones through the email address. This also allows you to attach information like a screen shot of the receipt at their P.O. Box.

Explain everything briefly and ask for help.

I emailed them and they reply quick. But they are asking for Application number? I was looking at the application I have on my email that I filled out. But I dont see any application number anywhere in the form.

It is the permit number. Email a copy of the license to them. They can figure it out from there.

I guess they are really backed up right now since the update. I'll just have to wait.

Well good news fellow Calgunners! My initial app was sent in on 5/17. I've had my fingerprints done at 3 places and rejected 4 times.

I guess 5th time is a charm b/c I had them redone AGAIN and called today to check and he gentleman on the phone said they passed this time!! Got an automated email from permitium saying I was approved and passed background!!

So after 5+ months and probably spending $220 on application fees, fingerprint fees, and USPS fees it looks like I should finally have my permit in hand within the next week or two. Persistence pays off....heh.

side note: now off to fight for my CoCo County CCW that was denied for some BS reason and they won't even get back to me. Keep up the good fight!

side note 2: anyone know any non-res permits I can get to have CO, WA and/or MN allowed? - I understand OR is not offering any reciprocity.

Glad to hear it worked out. Why was it $220 on application fees?

For WA, you can get UT by mail (only one fingerprint card required instead of 2). For MN, ID non-res enhanced would work, but it would have to be done in person.
For OR, you can apply in person to certain counties that issue to non-res.

For CO, no option available to Californians unless you OC or CC in a vehicle only (no permit required for either)

Thanks for the quick and detailed response!

I was trying to get CO b/c I often drive from CA to IA and go through CO (sometimes stopping for a night or 2). All states on the drive are covered except CO. Though it sounds like I could just carry in vehicle and the OC if I get out for gas or anything like that.

And when in IA I sometimes spend some time in MN and SD. I could try in person in MN next time I'm there.

I rarely go up north so not too worried - I'll probably go for my UT next to add WA and to double cover a lot of my AZ states' CCW - And at this point OR seems as bad or worse than CA so may just forget about it for now.

Oh, the $220 was basically
$60 initial application
$40 fingerprints
$10 shipping
$10 shipping after redoing fingerprints for free
$45 on fingerprints form new scan/print place
$10 shipping on that
$35 on fingerprints from sheriff's office
$10 shipping on that
$10 shipping on redoing fingerprints for free from different technician at sheriff's office

So I guess technically $230 plus time and gas but also proved to myself I could do it
