Article says if you pay more $$$ for services, you can get new cameras on them or at a discount....

So much E waste.....

I am wondering if WYZE cams will make it as well

Massive storage is required...

I started with one Dropcam and then added Nest cameras to my Nest Aware Gen 1 system. I have not and likely will not migrate to the Google system. I will likely just have the Dropcam upgraded before it is obsoleted.

Why not go with a system that has a local hard drive and you can access through your home internet? This way you don't get burned when the next one you buy also stops being supported?

I got my cameras when my company moved to a new location and ditched the "old" ones. I bought a standalone Samsung DVR to run them and can connect via an app or online 24/7.

I changed the firmware on my Wyze cameras to allow for RTSP streaming to my NVR. Wyze removed this firmware option from their website, but I still have the files.

This. My systems do not rely on the cloud, and the video cannot be given to law enforcement without a SWAT team showing up at my house. They can take the NVR, but good luck looking at the video.
