Default It's been a minute...

Checking in, it's been a few years...
Is the VC Chapter still alive?

The forum in general seems pretty dead compared to what it was years ago. It almost seems there has been a concession to the CA gun control.

I will be honest, I know things are worse than they were when I left CA in 2014, but I've not kept up with the laws or anyone from CalGuns.

Unfortunately Arizona has been miserable for me and besides the 2A freedom, I hate this state. It's continued to get worse every year I've been here and I want to leave.

As such, there is a chance I will be moving back to Oxnard, at least temporarily, before the end of the year. It would be nice to reconnect to anyone still around and local to VC.

I hear you brother. I'm sorry to hear your time outside of California was so unpleasant. As for the VC chapter sadly it's nothing like it used to be. Getting people out here to participate in anyway for anything seems near impossible now. If you need any help moving in id be happy to assist you free of charge. I'm currently working on a project that might work out benefiting this once grate community we had.
How about a work station for respected or contributing Calgunners to come and work on projects the wife or neighbors might not like. You know melting lead, casting boolits, reloading, cleaning of Firearms and general maintenance or just sneak away and Que up a stake or something. Best of luck to you bro.

I haven’t heard of much happening in the county for at least 4 years.

Funny how the general decline in VC Chapter interest coincided with the closing of Ventura’s (city) only indoor public gun range Island View Enterprises around 4 years ago. Probably no direct connection except an indication that gun interest may be on the decline in this area due to changing political views. This area’s Congressman is campaigning on anti-2A sentiment, while the local state rep is responsible for banning gun shows at the Ventura fairgrounds. The demographics of Ventura county are shifting left toward an anti-2A sentiment.

I remember going to the range meet ups a few times years ago but with less personal availability to go to the range nowadays, the worse hours at shooter's in Oxnard ever since covid, Island View closing, not the mention the high cost of ammo, it definitely is harder to go to the range nowadays. I usually end up going to California Tactical Academy or A place to shoot in Santa Clarita or ASR to make it a worthwhile range trip since they are much fewer and further between nowadays.

Hey guys (and gals)... It's been almost 1 year exactly since this thread and I never checked back in after making it.

Unfortunately things haven't changed much (if any) for the better for me out here in Arizona and I'm once again looking at the possibility of returning back to the PRK. To be blunt and honest, I know California still sucks but the reality is that moving back won't hurt me much. Since 2017 after my relationship ended, my life has continued to change and there is nothing really left for me here in Arizona.

With the weather, family and being my hometown, I might even be better off back in CA. Arizona is sadly turning into California 2.0 and the benefits of living here are all but gone since I left the PRK almost 10 years ago.

Anyway... It sucks to see the VC chapter is more or less dead, but good to know that some of you guys are still alive and kicking.

Hopefully I'll remember to check back... after all if I'm going to move back home, there are some things I need to figure out gun wise.
