Default Anyone got Free SBR approvals after ATF?s court losses?

I have not received any freebie SBR approvals ever since the courts handed the ATF their *** two weeks ago. It used to be very exciting to wake up in the morning, open up my email and see another approval. At one point I was getting one on the average every 2 to 3 days.

This past week or two has been a real downer, no more approvals! I still have a Draco, Sig P320 Exo chassis, a 7.62x39 AR, a Glock mag AR and a Scorpion that are left hanging in limbo.

Any Calguns Expat got an SBR approval over this past two weeks?

I wasn't expecting any for at least a month. Isn't that about how long it took your first one?

I expect mine to take even longer because the volume probably picked up a lot near the end.

I submitted one on May 20th. Nothing yet.

ETA: Looking over the NFA approval thread on reddit, people are still getting approved. Approval times are all over the place though. Looks like anywhere between 20-100+ days for brace form 1's

I have 2 from January, 2 from February and 2 from April still pending. The ones from April were individual applications with EFT file submission. The other ones were trust applications with paper FP forms. Approvals for all the others have been received.

Thanks, Loaded. As long as I read the ATF didn't go dark after the temp injunctions.

Nothing to worry about until it's all worked out in the courts. You're supposed to be free from AFT persecution with a brace as long as you submitted before June. Then there will be the lawsuits to be adjudicated. Then the appeals. Then at some point the Supremes might take it up, which should be a slam dunk.

At any rate we hopefully will have a new POTUS before it all settles out, and he will burn the AFT down.

edit: you could always call them to check the status. "Pending" good, everything else bad.

It is all about getting a free SBR for me. Hope if/when the Pistol Brace Rule is enjoined in the court, the permission to make SBR cannot be withdrawn since the guns so converted are already ‘ed

Congrats!

We only get the emailed .pdf. You print your own.

Now for Form 4 transfers, the approval also comes in as a PDF. No paper sent to the FFL. Even the stamp is electronic.

Do what?s best for yourself. I have more than a few NFA items already, so I?m past that point.

When did that start? My cans that I got this year all have stamps. Or are you talking about e-forms?

Same here. I might have thought harder about it if my NFA virginity was intact.

The idea is to make SBRs “in common use”. Spread the love.

Borrowing a page from the LBGTQXYZ movement.

Yes, eForm 4. I started to get the all-electronic approvals in June.

Understood. I guess my point was I wouldn't cross that line for the sake of an SBR when in reality, well you know.

The number of people who actually registered their braces makes this thread sound suss. Most are in noncompliance, because **** this bull****.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how that unfolds. It could take five years or maybe longer to work itself out.

Man, 20 years from now when the history books discuss the Brandon years, everyone will be shaking their heads in disbelief.

"Pending 05/20", meaning you submitted it on 5/20?

Trust or individual?

Since the above post of mine, I’ve received two more approvals. Three more to go. It’s definitely slower, but still trickles.

Exactly like the current passport processing delay fiasco, most things federal are suffering huge delays due to lack of staff and the federal government's COVID freaking policy of still promoting working from home. Federal workers "working" in the office is one thing.... But how much work do they get done at home?

Actually it may also work in our favor. I?ve received an approval on a Sunday!

I have 3 still "SUBMITTED/IN PROCESS". EFT & Individual.

CZ Scorpion, Created Date: 05/16/2023 Submitted Date: 05/16/2023
80% AR , Created Date: 05/31/2023 Submitted Date: 06/23/2023

The 80% AR was initially in "PENDING RESEARCH". It moved to "SUBMITTED/IN PROCESS" on 06/23/2023.

All are pistol brace "Tax Exempt".

WOO

EFFING

HOO!

I got one approval back. Of course I got a number of them bounced because I effed up the form.

Is the emailed .pdf the only thing we get? Or do they mail you some paper?

On a side note I saw MrGnG say there's some court procedure happening that might speed it along to the SCOTUS.

Congrats! The approval email with the PDF attachment is the only thing you'll receive. I printed two sets. One for the safe and the other I shrunk in size, laminated, and keep in my range bag.

Awesome. Im still checking my 3 pending applications hourly. I was going to SBR and suppress these regardless of pistol brace rule, so Im hoping to save $600 in taxes. I wouldnt be surprised if they ran out of stamps and only issued them digitally.

So here's today's AFT suckage:

When I screwed up some of my e-form applications, they bounced them back, but said I had to submit PAPER applications. Well, my passport photo and prints were electronic files. They won't let me use those for the paper forms. So now I have to go get more photos taken, and get a crapload of prints done because it's 2 cards per application.

grumble grumble bitch moan

That sucks, Sig.

The passport photo can be made with a good color printer.

The .eft file to paper FD-258 conversion can be done for $17:
https://www.nationalguntrusts.com/pr...gerprint-cards
(Suck it, Silencer Shop)

May we learn from your experience what was/were your errors?

That's great. All I'm missing is a good color printer. I asked if a black and white pic would work. Guess what they said.

When I was looking through the instructions I got the impression they might mail me stuff, so I used my mailing addy PO box. I thought surely if they didn't like it they would just email me to edit my application. How naive I was.

They bounced those applications, the first two I filled out. Unfortunately, they were the two I most wanted to sbr. In bouncing them, they want me to fill out paper Form 1's.

Take your picture file to FedEx Office or some office supplies store. Most can do it for a fee. Or find a buddy or neighbor with a color printer.

I see. Yes, Line 3b is your mailing address and can be a P.O. Box, but your physical address must also be provided in Line 3c.

Look at it this way. You still have a chance at getting your free SBR permits. The rest of us no longer do lol

It would be a pain with a printer, it would have to be sized 2x2 inches, and probably take some trial and error. I'll just g to Walgreens or maybe Walmart.

There was no 3c on the e-form.

You already got yours, lol. You knew how to fill out the form right. I can only do the original guns, otherwise I'd probably do a dozen more. I have buyer's remorse that I didn't do a ton of ones I didn't have immediate need for. But then I barely finished what I did plan for.

I got my fingerprint cards from National Gun Trusts. There's nothing in the "Signature of Official Taking Fingerprints" box. Is that a problem? I know it's filled in on the file I sent to the place that made the eft file. Either they were left off when it was converted to eft or when this other place deconstructed the eft file back into fingerprint cards.

The picture making machine at Walgreens is broken and expected to stay that way for awhile, so I had to go to the UPS Store. Forty bucks for 4 pics! Oh well.

It shouldn?t be. The paper FD258s I got from SS has no such signature either and they?ve worked all these years for me. When you think about it, those SS kiosks have no person taking the fingerprints.

I wonder if one could have bought one of those $50 Black Friday doorbuster color printers from Costco, used a photo quality printer paper (sometimes included as sample paper with the new printer) and rolled his own passport pic.

Oh well, you paid $40 to get $400 worth of SBR permits.

Be sure to mail the application to ATF with tracking. USPS Priority has been reliable for me.
