Default PCC, I can't even spell it, but I gots one :)

Hi guys and girls, I'm a long time USPSA (limited) and ICORE (limited) shooter, but I just bought my first PCC. It's a juggernaut tactical ar9.

It runs well, and I really like it.

My question is about the red dot. I've got a Romeo 5 on it. My questions are,

1. Where should it be mounted, I've got it over the ejection port.

2. When I'm shooting the red dot (my first one) do I shoot with both eyes open?

3. Do I look at the target or the dot?

Thanks in advance.

What he said! ^^^^

But for steel challenge I bring the dot up to the waiting target and pull as soon as the plate is in the window... I use a 12 MOA dot for SC

Romeo 5 has a small window so I prefer running it closer to my eye.

I run a Romeo 5 on my MPX and it is mounted just about over the ejection port.

I would move it away from the ejection port if you can, so flying brass doesn't ding it up.

Thanks, next questions. I see some at ARs that are all skeletonized. Is that something somebody did, or is there a company that does that?

I also see some with crazy colors. It's that anodizing or powder coating?

Thanks

Again, I’m no help with PCC, because I’m not into gay stuff , but I will share an observation I have made from squadding and ROing hundreds of PCC shooters.

There is a linear relationship between the racier a PCC is to the number of malfunctions that happen on a stage.

Conversely, there is an inverse relationship between the sexiness of a PCC and the shooters skill.

Neither observation is absolute. There are outliers of course but in general these are pretty true.

That’s what exactly what I’m saying. The more you **** with your PCC the more issues you’ll have. It’s pretty routine to have a guy at the line, with his color coordinated PCC, weighs less than a feather, 1 lb trigger with literally no reset, blah, blah, blah. Then his stage run goes something like this…

Stand by…. BEEP!

Pew pew. Jam. Eject. Reseat mag. Click. Eject. Fumble with mag. Insert. Chamber. Pew pew…. Pew pew pew…. Jam. Rinse. Repeat. 45 seconds later on stage that the revolver guy shot in 30… If finished…

Or…

Stand by…. BEEP!

Pew pew… brrrrrrrrrrr. Pew brrrrrrrrrr. STOOOOP! Unload and show clear. If clear….

Long story short. Leave your PCC alone. Shoot it stock. It’s already like bowling with the guardrails up so you don’t need to trick it all out.

100%! But not on training. That’s just a dumb investment.

You got that right.

I shot a steal match in Phoenix last week with a Ruger pcc. It was the second time I shot it. I came in 18th out of 36.

It's almost like cheating

I went for the deluxe featureless pimp daddy option. It's a really well made gun.

Handguard looks too short and barrel looks too long.

another pro tip. Get a couple of mags that "actually" work. If you load some big stick and it never runs, it is a waste. Get good mags and tune the springs correctly. Do you really need the stock 24 round mag, with the plus 30 extension, plus a barney? Also, buy a few normal cap mags for all the mandatory reload stages.

Those Glock 33 round mags work very well and I’m sure everyone stocked up on those during freedom week.

Most the pcc’s ive seen are generally similar parts. The cerakoted/anodized parts are usually strike industries or fortis.

The skeletonized upper/lower I see most often is the lead star arms prime upper/lower. If you want to race it out further, the popular choice on the west coast is a brekke custom 4”/6” compensator (pin and welded to a 10”/12.5” barrel) with carbon fiber handguard.

Max uses the Brekke setup.

A few years back the Taccom barrel that was just a few inches long with a lightweight tube attached was the hot ticket. That might have been MPX only.

Now that you have a PCC, sign up for the AZ State PCC Championship. Super fun PCC only match that really tests all your PCC skills, or quickly shows you what skills you do not have. Shots from 10 yds to 180 yds.

It is one of the best matches fun wise run at Rio Salado each year. The weekend after the PCC match is another great match, Red Oktober Cold War. I highly recommend that one as well. Dust of your AK and rock iron sights from 10 yds to 300 yds. Divisions for NATO weapons such as the HK-91 as well. All iron sight match except for Comblok Open Division.
