I drosed last month on a handgun. It was my first purchase and had a little bit of a prior history that was cleared up.
The dros was delayed on day 6 and figured it was going to go to undetermined, but on day 29 I was approved and received the firearm. A couple days later after the 30 day mark I drosed an AR. Had some fun with one shop that refused to DROs because he believed the 30 days started at the time of receiving the gun not at the time of application so I went to sportsman?s for fishing supplies and saw the same gun for $300 cheaper. I know they do not release on undetermined but since my last DROS was approved I figured i would give it a shot as they don?t have any restocking fee. Now here is my question? since the last DROS was approved after delay does that give a higher chance of the next application going approved on a 10 day wait? Or am I perpetually going to have to get a delay and pray it doesn?t hit the 30 day mark? Does the BOF have a previous history screen where they see past dros applications? Thanks guys! |

The DOJ works in mysterious ways. Short answer: It could go either way.

Honestly, if we voted in a governor, an attorney general and lawmakers who actually believed in our constitutional rights, a crap-load of these ridiculous gun laws would be gone.
I hope your purchase goes well. -P

The absolute laughable fact is that the background check is almost instantaneous, like it is all across the country. The 10 days is just a cooling off period.
One local shop told me a normal Drose could last for a 30 day background check. They told me they would call me when he was ready to be picked up. That was the craziest thing I?ve ever heard in 35 years of buying firearms. |

Each and every one has to be hand verified through their own background check process. California has two systems they check, one is their own and the other is NICS. Only the NICS half is instant. If it were automatic people without criminal records wouldn?t be delayed. If California only used the NICS system it would be automatic. |

The 30 days starts at application. It literally says it in the penal code.

Please let us know the identity of the FFL that does not understand the law and refuses to be educated.
As stated by others, it is the FFL's respnsibility to know, understand, and follow the laws governing the conduct of their business, silly as they be.

Delayed today day 5. It's really weird to me that they can delay me even before the 10 days is up so that tells me it's just an automatic delay it's just a computer picking certain names out you know randomly and just delaying people because I mean they have 10 days but they're going to delay me on day five before the 10 days is up even even though I was approved the last purchase and delayed the prior two from that . It's just automatic I think I think it's just a I think they just that they have the computer program picks out a certain percentage of people that apply and just randomly pick snap out names or maybe it goes by a number on the DRS all odd numbers get delayed or all even 33a3q2qq1 numbers get delayed or something like that

I was delayed when my fbi rap sheet wasn?t updated. Once it was I was getting approved. Seems like you?re getting flagged for some reason. Maybe do an FBI check just to make sure there?s absolutely nothing on there? Last edited by 17bb; 05-26-2023 at 1:07 PM.. |

I would definitely check to see if your fbi rap sheet is right. It costs something like $55 but then you?d at least know where you are when they check NICS. I would give a pretty good chance that your arrest was not updated with the FBI and they could have no final disposition and that?s why you?re getting delays. If you have the money and peace of mind pay the $55. I went through applicant services. https://www.applicantservices.com/fb...-Order-556-73/ You just go to any live scan location and give them the little code the website gives you. You might have to print it out but mine didn?t make me. You?ll get the results in literally like 5-10 minutes to your email. Just make sure you screenshot it because they delete the rap sheet in about 12-24 hours. |

Nowhere does it say that if you have a unresolved traffic violation you are prohibited nowhere does it say that anything other than mental health issues felony conviction restraining order illegal alien are you barred from purchasing a firearm. I'm just going to wait it out and maybe they will get their desired outcome because I won't be purchasing another one for quite a while maybe that's what it was it that's what it is intended by this crap |

It?s ****ty but most delays outside of Covid are from missing dispositions even if the offense wasn?t disqualifying. Since a DUI under Arizona law CAN be a felony and if there is no updates to your federal sheet after arrest, they don?t know if it was a felony or not so they call Arizona and ask. California doesn’t even update your FBI rap sheet unless you ask them to, which is insanely BS and could get someone falsely arrested. |

Good guy or bad guy has to defend himself both go to jail or Bad guy runs tosses the firearm gets away good guy defends himself sticks around firearm is in his name plus he feels he did nothing wrong . Goes to jail. Bad guy tosses firearm no big deal just buy another one . Good guy won't toss his investment of TIME and money and hassle . Goes to jail . So the bad guy is the free citizen (until he gets caught but even then he most likely be let go ) And the good guy is bound and oppressed by laws rules limits . You would think that you know the the more delays the faster they get as far as time is perceived but it just seems like it gets slower with this it's taking forever
