‘Only RSOs may proceed downrange to hang and retrieve targets.”

Also, they check your weapons for compliance it seems. Meh…

Quirky range quirky rules I guess. Never heard of only RSO allowed down range, and checking each of us ammo with a magnet? And night only shooting for public, will they provide night vision if power is out? ;-)

If Gavin Newsom had a range, it would be exactly like Coyote Point.

Nope. Didn’t bother. Went to field sport instead. 3 hrs of pistol and rifle shooting and met some good people. No one inspected my guns for compliance. $15.

Exactly what I was thinking. Do you have to raise your hand and ask for clearance before you can fire a shot? I guess you won't burn through a lot of valuable ammo there.
I remember back in the late 90's when I lived around there I was just getting started with shooting sports- I stopped by just to inquire about using the range and wanting to look around first before I even brought a firearm with me and the Rangers I spoke to were kinda hostile towards me when they found out what I was there for. I never went back. I guess things have not changed much.

Holy molly...

If you dont want the public to shoot at the range, just say so and find your own donors. All these Rules and dumb fees? The Range was built and currently maintained using tax payer money. In the current environment, you would think Gun owners would be looking out for fellow gun owners to encourage the sport and get people shooting. Guess not....Looks like we got a bunch of gatekeepers here.

Also " Deliberate shooting at any part of the Range Structure constitutes vandalism and appropriate legal and/or civil action could take place." i wonder who is judging what is deliberate or not. This is a ****storm waiting to happen"

sometimes i wonder why they built the range they did. 100yd for LE training? maybe their sniper unit... the limit on pistol caliber at 100yd range is because they don't trust people and the deflectors can't probably handle larger caliber rifle rounds.

has anyone seen the indoor pistol range? if so, how many lanes?

kind of wish going to jacket arms back in the day with lots of rental choices.

I don't know where people get this idea? No where in the CPRPC website does it say we check the weapons for "compliance".

Us CPRPC club members who volunteer to be RSO's aren't law-enforcement (well most of us anyway) so we don't have any business checking for legally required accessories. The only thing we care about is safety: does it have sights? Can you hit a target with your rifle at 100yrds and not the floor or ceiling?

It's the Sheriff's Department's range. We just man the facilities for public use nights. I'm just glad we're finally open but now I have to figure out how to use this reservation system to sign-in folks.

See you at the range.

Public evenings on M,W,F, you can shoot any centerfire rifle up to .49 cal. So bring your 300 Win-mag or similar canon.

The 22LR restriction is only on Members Only weekends so as not to disturb the public using the park.

Thanks. Maybe we are reading too much into these rule from the website:

Any firearm and/or ammunition on the Range may be checked by a Range Safety Officer at any time.

? Only RSOs may proceed downrange to hang and retrieve targets.

So, has anyone shot .223 rounds there?

We have been told to check for steel ammo because it can damage the steel backstop. Firearms checks are for safety not legality though if somebody brings a .50 or is shooting buckshot through some unusual and rare combo-gun we have to be able to check and tell them, no.

The Sheriff's and LEO's shoot 5.56 rounds there every day.
