I've got a Patrol model in 308. Love the trigger and smoothness of the action. Waited over a year for the 308's to come out, and glad I did.

Great gun for a very reasonable price. Relatively light, reliable, accurate and HANDY (short). Takes all sorts of different non-proprietary magazines. Just got some of the ASC 20 rounders which are "formed" to hold the capacity to CA legal 10 (see/buy them at Mag Commander).

Some folks have expressed concerns regarding the smoothness of the actions, but I think that this has only related to the 223 Patrol at this time. If that is what you are going to get, check the action of the gun you are going to purchase.

If there are issues with your gun, Mossberg has great customer service. This I've learned mostly from folks who bought their 930 SPX shotguns, which definitely had some teething and quality issues early on as Mossberg couldn't keep up with the demand for them.

Get one!

Mine was very accurate (24 inch Predator model) but the bolt handle throw was so long it used o almost hit the side of the Leupold scope I put on there to replace the BArska that came with the kit. I sold it to a friend who didn't have a modern bolt gun and he is scoring hits on the 300 yard silhouettes at Angeles with ease. He is VERY happy. If you have a lot of AR mags from before the original ban, its a great way to use them.

I have a Predator and am happy with it. My only wish is that Mossberg would make it in left hand.

Just FYI Savage makes just about EVERY variation of their guns left-handed, and Ruger's gun site scout comes left handed.

^ Yup, which is why I bought a Scout Rifle instead of waiting for the MVP to come out in .308. Truthfully, the only thing that caused me to pick up the MVP is its ability to use standard AR mags... something that Savage doesn't do. Otherwise, I'd have had a Savage in the safe, they're good rifles. Mossberg could learn a thing or two from them if they'd pay attention.

I looooove my MVP predator. Very accurate out of the box and beautiful to shoot.
That and you should see the look when people watch me switch my AR mags onto a bolt action. Lol. Priceless

MDT just came out with a chassis system for the MVP. Not everyone likes them, but I'm a fan:

If Mossberg doesn't hurry up and make their Flex stock available, I might have to suck it up and buy one of those chassis... it'd keep my left thumb from being cut by the bolt, shooting left handed. My wallet will cry, though.

I have a MVP Predator and I love this rifle. It is rather lightweight, recoils straight, and has a pretty decent trigger out of the box.

I also have a Ruger GSR (.308); yet for plinking the MVP (.223) is more pleasant to shoot all day long, and the ammos are much cheaper.

The MVP works with all my AR magazines, hence saved me money from acquiring magazines.

Did I say I love this rifle?

What did you pay for it? And what kind of mags are you going to be using in it?

I have yet to see the .308 model in any store.

That's great! Mossberg makes a rifle that's CA legal so we can use our AR magazines, and you want to make it look like an AR, so next year Kevin Leon or Suk Yee can be holding THAT up for the stupid TV cameras and saying it's an ASSULT BOLT GUN!

I got the 5.56 at $579. They had 308s in stock but I didn't catch the price.

Really look the same except for the larger mag.

That's a great deal. I'm really torn between the MVP and the new American ruger put out in 223 with the red field scope.

If Ruger came out with a variation of their Ruger American in tactical garb, that would be capable of taking Mini-14 mags; I'd have one.

You are years too late. Google Tube Guns and chassis guns.

Mossberg just really the first to offer for under $800...hell they are actually under $600

I have a pretty new Patrol model that I picked up a Turner's last month.

I've only shot about 100 rounds through it to zero in the Leupold 1.5-4x scope at 25 yards. Still need to get it out to a longer range or outside.

I was surprised how much I've become accustomed to shooting a semi automatic. Racking the bolt is not as fun as I thought it would be. But it shoots very nicely. Accuracy is better than I can hold offhand and I was able to get some pretty small groups at 25 yards. In other words, before anyone jumps on me, it meets my needs. YMMV.

I love having a bolt action gun that takes my AR mags and can safely shoot 5.56.

Turners have the Patrol on sale... 529 in .223/5.56 and 549 for .308. I am tempted to get it in .308. Already have the 5.56

About half what I see it going for at most online stores, so about 30-40% of the prices at LGS. New, not used.

the adjust-ability on the 5.56 version doesn't seem all that variable (didn't seem to make too noticeable a difference)...

Oh, im so tempted to buy another one...

But guess what?! Mossberg finally put in my long time request! A bolt rifle in Tan or FDE! Check out the website! It's updated and now I just have to wait for the LGS to get them in stock on a Tan/FDE MVP!

I wish they'd hurry up already!
