Default won my chargeback against a CA extortionist FFL

Long story
A customer ordered a complete ar15 rifle lower from me. Gave me the name of the shop to ship to. I never used them before. I warned the buyer that some shops think they are illegal.

A few days go by and he tells me to ship to a different shop. I add the new shops name in my quickbooks.

When I am ready to ship I forget to change the name in the drop down and print out the original shop. Lower goes there. My mistake.

Original shop goes ballistic on a legal lower calling it an AW. I tell them to ship it back and I will pay their $75 transfer fee to return it and shipping. About 10 minutes of work. They tell me it's $150. I explain to them there posted fee is only $75. They do not budge. Instead of getting all bent out of shape I just pay the fee to get my item back for the customer asap.

Once it is back in my hands I file a chargeback. I tell my card company it was an extortion to get an item I sent out by mistake. I tell them to only refund me the difference of $75. I get back the entire amount.

If the shop was not greedy they could have made the equivalent of $450 an hour to process the transfer. even adding in the time to receive and log in they still would have made over $200/hr. Instead they took a loss.

I have shipped guns to the wrong ffl by mistake a few times all over the country. Out of maybe 20,000 guns I can count on one hand my mistakes. Not one single FFL has ever charged me to get my gun back until this clown FFL did.

I just shipped 10 guns to another CA FFL by mistake. All he asked was for a shipping label to forward to the correct Ca FFL. It is why I send so many buyers to him. He is one of my favorites in the SF bay area on the east side. I tried to pay him for his time and he refused.

Good to hear, it really sucks that some FFLs don’t know the law and that some gouge. And I’m always surprised with the ones in my area that continue to get business when I know they’re like that from experience.

When you count on one hand, are those 10 guns just mis-shipped counted as one or two? Mis-shipping 10 guns is no small boo-boo. Sounds like you need some quality control help, and maybe some more hands.

I sell to other dealers. these were 10 of the same gun. counts as 1 in my book.

1 missed shipment is not the end of the world. that and the one earlier are both during the biggest panic buy in history. the % miss shipped overall would be close to .0000001%

Good for you Phil. Some ffls need to have the feet put to the fire for being either aholes, ignorant, or clueless = same thing. I just posted a rant against marshall range and academy for trying to charge $108 for ppt dros with no transfer. I tried to get them to check with other ffls or website and tried to take a pic of the screen with fees that they were charging and they threw me out.

I rarely make public my issues with Ca FFLs. Trying not to turn them against me. But when I retire I will name names of all the ones that have stolen from me, intentionally damaged my guns, or changed their policies because I ship in stuff they simply cannot get. I only take pictures of guns going to CA dealers I never shipped to before. I got tired of customers telling me I shipped them a scratched up gun. Once I started sending pictures to customers the minute they complain to me those dealers coughed up money to replace. It is why I prefer to ship to home based dealers or ones with small shops. Others like ADDAX and Rifle gear are professional. But the chains are notorious for finger banging my stuff and damaging it. Keep in mind I cannot compete on handgun sales or cheap rifles. All my stuff is on average $2000 each. 1 destroyed gun is expensive to cover.

there a few. One of my favorites is UGimports. I steer my clients to him, not because other s are bad but because he is just very easy to ship to. If you pm me a zip I can get you closer to one on my preferred.
