Default Pistol Caliber Carbines - 9mm?

I think I have a problem

I have several pistol caliber carbines, in various calibers. What I don't have and have been unable to find for sale (at a reasonable price) is a 9mm bolt action rifle.

Saw this: http://www.specialinterestarms.com/index.php?page=novem

And there are some others.

I can't help but think that a 9mm bolt carbine that takes glock mags would be pretty awesome.

Had i known about the SIA conversion kits, i would have gotten one

Any other recommendations?

I've been thinking all weekend about buying dies for 9mm to load some HD rounds.
Its suprising how well this cartridge does out of the longer barrel...suprising to me that is.
Good luck with your search.

If you really want Glock mags I'd think you would have to go with converting a 9mm AR to bolt action.
Otherwise, I think the company that was selling the Rhineland Arms 45acp Mauser conversions kits also offered one in 9mm.

That's some expensive plinking. I wish that test were done with economy ammo found at places like WalMart and Turners.

Minus the really fancy stuff after about 8" it doesn't seem much advantage.

.38 and .357 does what 9mm does, more or less, or, in this case, less, then, more.

I say use your semiauto pistol cartridges in your semiauto carbines, and your rimmed, revolver cartridges in your lever carbines and bolt rifles.

But that's just me.

This setup combined with a suppressor would be ideal for close range feral pig control. A subsonic 147 grain or heavier bullet will be so quiet as it’s getting a complete powder burn around 15” of barrel.

A 9mm bolt gun checks so many boxes, it's hard to list them all:

cheap to shoot (cheapest centerfire pistol caliber)
low recoil/recoil averse friendly
mag capacity (glock mags)
did i mention cheap to shoot? (cheapest centerfire pistol caliber)
suppressed, subsonic, hard hitting, yadda yadda..

It's kinda silly that there isn't a mainstream bolt 9, but what do I know.....

Yeah, $800 for a 5 shot (maybe 4) rotary mag 357 is not reasonable. I would love one, maybe for $500 msrp. These are brush guns, with limited range. That needs to be taken into account. I don't want proprietary mags, I want glock mags, 9mm, I want bolt action, I want threaded barrels and I want a rail on top of the receiver that could be extended to scout (LER Scope).

This is a gap, and there is opportunity for the right maker to fill that role.

Savage could kill with this. Accutrigger, Accustock, 16" barrel, glock mags. TAKE MY MONEY!!

None of the advantages you list are bolt gun specific, and there are some great 9mm semiautomatic carbine options. The question is: why manual operation in a cartridge that works so well in a semi-auto format?

They are not unique to bolt guns, that is true.

Why? Because I think it would be fun.

Can’t argue with you there.

Sadly, I would also be all over this, even without owning a suppressor. I’ll take one in 9mm and one in 10mm.
