Default Marlin Dark Series

The tactical guys might like these. I think they're clean looking.

I think they look pretty awesome. Nice, low-key style. Not sure about pricing, tho. Seems a bit steep, even if you reduce it a couple hundred for the street price.

Cool for what they are, but no revolver-cartridge chamberings are offered; only riffle and the .45-70 Gubmnt.

Always had a preference for walnut/blued steel, but it's nice to have a stainless long gun or two with a stainless sidearm for shooting in the rain...

And while I like my '94 SBL (stainless 16.5" .44 Mag) I think the cat's meow would be an 18" blued version of same.

I own one JM and one newer 336Y , really like the looks of these but once I saw the price I just laughed. Yes it's threaded , it has a rail and some paracord but the price is stupid high.

It's a good thought though.

I modified a new Marlin 30-30 with plastic stocks and a skinner site.

The action was stiff so I took it apart and cleaned the machine oil and honed the
moving parts. It’s like butter now.

Just a few hundred bucks. It rides in my trunk.

Be well
Bob

The style is fine. But to move away from the classic wood hardware etc, I would prefer a box magazine and pointy bullets.

More along the lines of the later Savage 99, Win 88, and Browning BLR.

Or the Remington 76xx series pump.

Hornady makes a lever bullet with a soft pointed tip that is tube magazine safe. I’ve considered a 30-30 because of that.

I tried a box of those in 45-70.

For smaller calibers I like more in line with 223, 308 etc.

Never been a fan of the 30-30 cartridge. Prefer 300 Savage, or more modern round(308 Winchester used 300Sav as parent cartridge; it is basically an improved 300Sav with higher pressures).

Yawn. I'm a lumber stock and blued steel type with levers. I'll accept stainless (have one in the safe) but I don't like plastic stocks and black metal on levers.

Do the 3 sights make it more accurate?

Good morning....

I bought the stocks from MidwayUSA. They were made by “Champion” and a recent search says out of production.

The rifle itself was a 336Y (youth model with 16 inch barrel)
A Remlin from Buds Gunshop.

Be well sir

Bob 😎

Of those 3 sites, the middle site folds down, so I just left it on the Rifle.

The skinner AR site has a peep hole and yes, it’s quite accurate.

Be well
Bob 😎

It is good looking that’s for sure. Really digging the all black too.
Maybe the time has come to add a lever gun to the collection....

That is a one-off. I want one. But, in CA it isn't going to happen.

See here for details on that rifle, and some more pictures.

Bob, you have created a remarkable carbine, there. .30 cal, 6 lbs, light and handy. Friendly. Jeff Cooper called the Win '94 trapper (a most-similar gun) the "Brooklyn Assault Rifle" (because of their not gun-friendly laws).

You have done that example one better, and I believe in a manner he would have wholly approved of. Sure, some here on CG think the man was a blowhard, but I think differently, and I too think what you have made, there, is an absolutely superb piece. Think of me if you ever wish to sell it.
