Google Map: CA OLL Shops, CA-Friendly, and Middleman Dealers

This Google Map is the result of my work to create a single map that will become the best resource for locating CA OLL shops, out of state CA-friendly dealers, and out of state middleman dealers that may be used to help gun owners get the legal firearms they really want into California.

For additions or corrections to this map please send a PM to shark92651. Please create a Google Places listing prior to requesting to be placed on the map. I have decided not to add any more locations on the map unless they are an actual Google Places listing. The Google Places listing allows for useful features like reviews (both good AND bad), hours of operation, photos, automatic updates of address changes, etc...

My admiration and thanks go out to member aplinker, who created the original OLL Dealer map, and to member rawimpact, who took it upon himself to re-create and maintain that map after vandals had destroyed it. I also appreciate the list of middleman and CA-friendly dealers that was created and maintained by aplinker. However, I always thought that the OLL map and list of dealers could be improved in several ways so here are the results of my efforts.

The entries are now sorted alphabetically.

Duplicate entries have been removed (the old map had about 35% duplicates)

Contact information is now available on every entry.

Combined the OLL Map, the Middleman list, and the CA-Friendly dealer list.

Use of Google Places: I found that over 90% of the shops already had a Google Place (business listing) on the web - so why not include the actual Google Place listing so that all the company information such as phone number, address, website link, customer reviews, and other information would be available on the map. Most of the entries on this new map are based on the Google business listing - this also means any updates to contact information, address, reviews, etc.. by the business owner will be instantly updated on this map.

CA OLL Shops (Blue Marker): These are the California FFL dealers that sell, transfer, or otherwise deal in off-list receivers, rifles, single-shot off-roster pistols, and other black rifle goods.

Middleman Dealers (Red Man): These are the out of state dealers that can be used to receive a firearm or receiver from a dealer not willing to ship directly into California, and will configure into a CA-legal configuration and re-ship to one of the CA OLL dealers.

CA-Friendly Dealers (Green Marker): These are the dealers that stock and ship their CA-legal configured products directly to CA OLL dealers, but are not necessarily considered a general middle-man dealer.


I hope that people will find this map useful and that it will become a sticky and replace the existing OLL Map. I hope I am not stepping on any toes by doing this, but I have recently done some other work with Google Maps and really thought I could improve upon what we had in place.

I'm getting a stripped upper and lower and need it shipped to an FFL. Usually do you to go in person to your FFL before you place the order w/ the external retailer, or just tell the retailer to ship it to the FFL location?

zoglog, I would call your local FFL prior to ordering the lower to make sure they know it is coming and to ensure they are comfortable with receiving it for you.

Ok I added New Frontier Armory as a new out of state middle-man and added De Chiel Firearms and Project 2000. I am not going to add Direct Action Solutions because I cannot find a Google places listing for them. Since it is SO easy to create a listing, and we get benefits like online reviews, searches on Google maps, etc... I decided not to add any new dealers that do not have a Google listing. It also gives the business the ability to update their address should they move, update phone number, business hours, etc... without the need for me to manually update the map. I would encourage anyone that is in contact with them to encourage them to create a listing on Google Places and then I will add it.

Some of you may have noticed that the map has lost all the "Google Places" information and only shows name and coordinates if you click to get directions. This seems to be a bug on Google's end and so far I am unable to get any real information from them if this is going to correct itself. I have another "test map" and if I add a listing on that map, it appears to stay correct but not when I add to the main map. I may just rebuild the map anew and re-add all the entries. It will be a lot of work but it makes the map much more useful than in it's current state. If there is anyone here that knows a real person inside the Google Maps R&D team please get in contact with me as I would love to be able to bring this bug to somebody's attention.

Sorry, I dont have the time to read the entire post to see if it has directions on where to add something on there. But there are two gunstores in the inland empire area (murrieta and temecula) that sell OLL rifles and other fun stuff. The Shootist ( www.TheShootistGuns.com ) and Faith Armory ( www.FaithArmory.com ).

The Shootist is a large Class 3 FFL dealer and has a large selection of firearms and accesories with atleast a handfull of OLL rifles in stock at any given time. The Shootist also has a full LEO section of class 3 fun stuff and dangerous game double rifles and other exotic firearms that have 5 digit prices on the tags to drule over. Faith Armory is a fairly new gunstore (few years old) and always has atleast a few OLL AR's and AK's on the shelf.
