Talking Its here! 240SLR Belt fed fun

So about 3 months I did the deed on an Ohio Ordinance 240B but Turners said the back order for these things mean it will be awhile. I just recently got a call that told me about 60 days and they should be in stock. They do come with alot of links, not sure if it comes with a nut sack. Anyone have any advice on glass / accessories?

Get or make something to catch the links. It's a big pain to pick them up.

Not many places you can have fun shooting those. A hundred yards is barely enough distance for them to light. You want to watch them arc out over 500+ yards. Someplace like.... Big Sandy. Hey, wait a second - isn't that in late October??

Why, yes it is.

I just lay on my back and link nipple to nipple and that is exactly 10 rounds in .308, I call it the Buffallo Bill technique

Surely you have some M-60 belts from way back when. 100 or 200 rounds? After you shoot them, aren't you allowed to rebuild them to the original size?

Been collecting links since the 90's got plenty. Some are actually a bit rusty needs a good cleaning come to think of it.

With a slight modification to rear nub in the feed tray you can run MG42/MG3 non-disintegrating links in your M240. Perfect for the guys who already own pre-ban links.

Are those HK21 belts, or something like that?

edit: Doh, you said they were MG42 belts. I thought those were a little different, for some reason.

You can run the MG3 belts through a HK21.

FYI, DM-1 non-disintegrating belts MG42 - MG3 - M53 - MG34 - HK21 = Same

US M13 links, M240 - M60 - HK21

Updated newer version of the US/NATO M-13 link = German DM-6 Link

In the 1990's the German Army developed an improved 7.62x51 Disintegrating Link. This new German link, designated DM-6, was designed to resolve the problems associated with US/NATO M-13 Links. Unlike the M13 that contacts a large section of the cartridge, and has a rough edge that the casing must slide against; the improved German link has rounded stampings allowing only small, smooth portions of the cartridge to contact each link. This makes the link far more reliable while maintaining the same amount of pressure; securely holding the cartridge in place

Side story - I got robbed, and part of what they took were 11 original M60 belts. When I reported it to the insurance company, they wanted to know the value. I said "priceless" because I can't legally replace them. They wanted a number, so I gave them the going price. Not that you can easily find original Lake City ammo like I did at a gun show decades ago. They proceeded to depreciate it, to which I tried to educate them as to ammo has two states, fired or unfired. One state, it's basically worthless, the other state it has the same value as brand new ammo.

After arguing with them for a bit, they said, okay, go ahead and replace it, and we'll reimburse you. Smack my forehead, I can't replace it!

Aren’t replacement parts allowed to rebuilt old/damage/worn out magazines?

Just buy new links to replace the old worn out links in your linked magazine.

I don't think it'll ever be an issue really.

Congratulations although in its neutered semi-auto form, it's probably a lot more economically feasible to shoot. Shooting FA belt feds can turn a lot of money into noise very quickly. In 2022, I personally wouldn't worry about using your Freedom Week 250 round linked belts at all ;-) Bless you Saint Benitez!

2018 December I could have bought one from Turners. $10K plus fees/tax.

I bought a MT07 instead. 12,000 miles on it. So I'm having fun...but...

Beautiful work, 1919_4_ME!! How much do these run, and do you offer it for an MG42 AA tripod as a base? (I like the way the MG42 tripod folds for a smaller footprint).
