You realize Hispanics are considered white right ? I want to know when the damn black market wild duck markets get rounded up in Chinatown . And when was the last time you heard of a commercial abalone arrest ? Or bear gallbladder sting . Certain people get left alone because it’s primarily organized crime funding the criminal actors. Hey kinda like blm looters not getting arrested in Walnut Creek … same thing

This. I once watched a DFG guy in a boat pass a dozen of Mexican fisherman on shore with no license (back in the wear your license in the open days) then pull over a boater to shake him down.

My guess is they are back at it before the new year. I didn’t see any mention of the guns being confiscated.

I don’t mean to be rude but I just keep seeing this over and over and over. After so many times you got to be honest and just call it like you see it.

I don't buy this narrative. I have a friend who is a deputy district attorney and has been is multiple counties. He has personally prosecuted CDFW poaching and exceeding limit fishing cases against violators who happened to be asians and were selling their catch commercially. A quick search of CDFW's News Feed shows quite a mix of ethnicities (surnames).

I also used to work in rural southern Monterey County. The wardens out there were always on the lookout for certain poaching rings from the Frenso area, who happended to be Asian.

My experience has been that most wardens are more than happy to arrest anyone who is a legitimate violator.

I can’t speak for Monterey County as I’m not from there. I can say my local pier and forest land tell a different story. Over limits, under sized, out of season, illegal methods of take, doesn’t matter. It’s the same folks over and over again. Not a warden to be seen. Yet when I come back to the boat ramp and show my catch and license to mr green pants while following all the confusing laws I get a shake down anyways. A spade is a spade.

My exact experiences. And I dislike poachers of every type. So take this as an observation, not a slight against anyone.

I have no issue with someone getting cited for over limits. I do however have a problem with very select enforcement. Always see the same folks getting searched while others never getting a look at. It’s pretty obvious that they hold certain people to a higher standard.

The rockfish regs are stupid. You should keep the first ten fish you catch and then stop killing stuff. It makes no sense to keep throwing stuff back. Rockfish can be properly released if fished shallow but it’s not easy to do.

If the state really wants to stop poaching, make poaching a mandatory prison sentence of 10 years, a $500K fine per occurrence and no reduced sentence for good behavior. I bet that slows them down.

I recently stumbled on the you tube interviews of a couple of poachers that have also written books about their exploits and growing up in south Texas.

Charles Beatty and Pat Lane.

I won't say it's softened my outlook on poachers any

(particularly the ones that just take the horns)

but it has opened my eyes to some hunting history I had no Idea about.
