Looks good but I wonder what the total price would be for it out the door in California.

I've had a deposit down with my local FFL for a few months. They told me this morning that it would be MSRP plus tax and dros..so I guess around $1400.00 give or take depending on your local sales tax. I have been known to use fuzzy math before

I didn't want to start another thread

Even tho I'm set to reload 30-30 and have some factory ammo set aside, a little part of me was hoping the 35 rem was going to be released 1st

WOW, that is beautiful! I hope all of the new 336s have that gorgeous lumber on them.

I might have to get the trigger on my 336 gold plated so I can keep up!

Ruger did this well!!

1400? Jeez. It?s a nice rig but that price point has me wondering what my circa 2013 Remlin 336 is worth these days.

I paid $249.00 for mine in 1994 (Walmart in Tracy, CA.).

^ ^ ^ Right?

I'm glad my nearly NOS (when I bought it previously-owned three years ago) 1968 336 Texan Carbine is a shooter!

My very first impression of the image linked in the OP was that "It looks like a Henry..."

But upon further inspection of the photos that followed, I am impressed. That looks like a bee-yew-tee-ful gun.

In looking at the new photo more carefully I can see why you related this to a Henry. Dark (beautiful) walnut stock and matte finished steel.

I would have to see one in person but the original is only "matte" on the top of the receiver. The sides are not "polished" but a smooth finish.

The more I think about is, a matte finish might really be the best for this rifle.

Just my opinion though and I would really like to see one!

Not too long ago, Henry seemed to have "borrowed" the Marlin receiver/lever proportion, so when I say "looks like a Henry", I mean everything else about it.

I think, Dan, you knew what I meant.

Dave! in Oro/AZ! Don't overlook any revolver-caliber lever guns! While it's always good to have a .30-30 in the armory, shooting lever actions chambered in .357 is about the most fun you can have withyerpants on.

Well I see your 0.357 withholding a. 0.44 Magnum? I was super sharp with it.

But definitely 30-30 is the beast. Do they even have a 45-70?

I just called Turnes to see if I could place an order for the new Marlin.. maybe double my chances .

No such luck, they won't take one thin dime on deposit for any new Ruger Marlin. Gee, I wonder why

It really does look nice, they'll come off that price in a couple months. I remember the 3" Pythons were getting $1,800 out here when they first dropped, now they're under $1,400.

My $$ says that the new RuMar versions will prove to be the best ever made. The tolerances can be held to a much more uniform standard, and the gremlins that haunted so many of the older Marlins seem to be history. A serious lever rifle collector would have representative models from all the generations, good and bad alike. Perhaps I should have kept that one I practically gave away…..

I'm going to guess that the first few that we see on GB will "buy now" for $1799.00.

And next year when the 94 hits GB they'll start at $1999.00...

Never mind

Well, I see your .44 Mag and raise you a .41 Magnum.

The Marlin Model 1895 [.45-70] was the first model run Ruger made.

Our esteemed colleague SplitHo0f has a 16" Trapper, a stainless Model 1895 and likes it. Ruger-Marlin also released an 18" stainless 1895 SBL.

The 336 in .30-30 is the second Model number that Ruger has resurrected.

You guys know I have two Henry's[.357 and .45 Colt], and really like 'em.
But, this new Ruger looks splendid! I'm thinking Henry may be looking at these pretty damn close. There's some serious competition here for Henry.
Slim lines, weight seems close, but those lines on the new Ruger! Damn!
Could be a very near perfect lever rifle. And this coming from a Henry owner.

If anyone has a Rockwell marlin they want to get rid of, that?s the last phase of the company I need to collect. Not all variants of the rifles, but at least a representative of each incarnation of the company.

Its definitely going to make Henry step up. The thing about Henry is that they offer a $400.00 22LR lever action and a $4000.00 ++ classic lever action worth every penny, and just about everything in between.

We'll never see the low end or high end MSRP from Ruger/Marlin.

My tablet is really starting to piss me off

Unfortunately, you are correct, but I suspect that the current version of the 10/22 is the low point. As to a ?high end? Ruger, there is no such animal, but they can be improved upon enough to make most of them ?much better?, at least. While their #1 rifle, and some of their shotguns are miles above their standard production guns, even those are rudimentary in many regards.

I was referring to the Marlin line from Ruger. I apologize, I didn't mean to include anything stamped Ruger in my last post. I doubt I'll ever see a model 39 made by Ruger, if I/we do there's no way it will price match the H001.

Now I'm talking MSRP..it wouldn't shock me one bit to see a new Ruger/Marlin 1894 .357 sell for 4k. I've seen crazier things

I really wonder if Ruger has plans for re-introducing the 39. When I bought mine in 1977 (sale at one of the big box stores), it was my first opportunity to handle one. They were pretty rough (action wise) out of the box. I had to get the store clerk to bring out a few more so I could try them before I found one I could work with. Still rough but tight fits of all action parts.

Upon disassembly it was obvious that there was a lot of hand fitting of parts, some rather crude. The quality of the action depended on the skills of the assembler/fitter. I was surprised at the lack of uniform quality control of the several I tried at the store.

It took me awhile to smooth things out. One of the issues was the rock hard forgings of the receiver, bolt, lever and trigger. Very difficult to smooth surfaces (I used an industrial diamond de-burring tool and a lot of careful elbow grease).

The really good thing about the parts being so hard, they should really last forever with decent care. The Henry H-001 is a fine lever action .22 but the receiver is a powder coated aluminum die casting. Plenty fine for a knock-around plinker and short range varmint gun but it is going to look pretty rough when the grand kids inherit it. That didn't keep me from buying one for my daughter when she came of age. She still has it and loves it. They are very accurate also.

If you're gonna .30-30, then, the Marlin is the way to go. I say this as one who also likes Winchesters. I am particularly fond of the revolver-calibers Model 1892...

It's just that the Marlin 1894/336/1895 is far easier to field strip to clean from the breech; it's a much easier machine to maintain. And, for me, all Marlins fit me better. There's just something about swinging one of my six Marlin to my shoulder that is emminently satisfying. And that! is before shooting it!

Last one listed here sold for $2099.99. Only time I went over $2k for a gun was when I bought my Freedom Arms Model 83.
