Based on a letter sent out by Wayne LaPierre today - sure looks like it is happening...
https://onlygunsandmoney.com/2023/03...rEqyMz2tRJzPcM "Dear Employees, "As you know, the NRA continuously pursues new business and strategic options in the interests of the Association and our members. Along these lines, we are going to explore the marketability and potential sale of our headquarters. "The NRA has long considered a move of its headquarters and has been working to identify a new location that allows us to enhance our advocacy and national platform, recognize operational efficiencies, and become an even stronger organization. Assuming we find such a location and favorable opportunity to sell the HQ, we will present such plans to the Board of Directors for approval. I want you to be aware of these ongoing developments. "Naturally, there will be no impacts to our staffing, our programs, or our Second Amendment advocacy as we explore this opportunity and many others. We remain committed to the fight for freedom. "Thank you for your support of our mission. "Sincerely, "Wayne" They sold the downtown DC headquarters property to make the money to buy the Fairfax property. Wayne's going to sell the Fairfax property to fund his next ten years. Staffers will like their new affordable headquarters digs in New Mexico where they'll have better access to Capitol Hill lawmakers. Not sure if suits with just a little wear will be included. ![]()

They've been 'talking about' and/or 'teasing' this for, at least, two or three years. Many on this board (and elsewhere) feel that it is imperative to find a more "2nd Amendment friendly" jurisdiction. Rumors have ranged from a move to Texas or West Virginia or New Mexico to 'needed repairs' for the building in Fairfax to simply leasing 'spare' space.
Who knows? But, for now, the NRA is advertising a number of job opportunities for the Fairfax HQ (you have to scroll to the actual job announcement, not just the list, to find where the job is to be located). Let's say I'll believe it when I see it and won't become askance until I see something more definitive than a vaguely worded 'memo' and anonymous speculation/reaction from 'real estate brokers.' |

Just like selling valuable DC property and moving to a cheaper place in VA worked so will selling valuable VA property. Moving to a 2A friendly area will also be a good move. They'll keep offices in DC for their lobbyists but the bulk of employees don't need to be in or next to DC - also I'd wager a lot of employees who live in that area actually do not hold the NRAs vision within their political tenets.

Everyone can make unsupported insinuation. Watch this: "NRA is selling headquarters and -hanko is going to be on the deal under the table. He'll also stop beating his wife now that he steals more money from the NRA." If you don't believe me, just look at the letter from WLP - it clearly states that the sale is being considered, so -hanko must be a wife beater. Makes sense?
That's the "logic" of these threads in a nutshell.

An organization is selling a fixed asset. That's the news. The rest is unsubstantiated insinuation. And without that insinuation, there is no thread because you'd be hard pressed to find a more non-news news than that.
So, what we have here is just a gossip thread by a poster who creates threads about how he hates the NRA. And that gossip is unsubstantiated and derogatory, so it's more commonly known as "libel." Pointing out that he's a wife beater is similarly unsubstantiated and derogatory statement, and it's equally valid as the OP. If we don't call the OP on the "conclusion" he's making, we might as well have a thread about "WLP is funding his suits and the next 10 years while -hanko is beating his wife." It's just more arbitrary libel, nothing to see here...

More likely it's merely the simple case of costly, behemoth real-estate seeing only 30% employee occupation or less, on any given day, no longer needed.
This is happening with all sorts of commercial businesses, public, private, or nonprofit, in the wake of the shamdemic, where a large percentage of their workforce is now working remotely. In some cases, that's permanent. So without the need for so much office space, and in the subterfuge storm known as 'Biden's Socialist Economics' of inflation gone wild, it makes sense for any business to sell off bloated real-estate holdings, reduce space retained, nonrenew a lease, and/or move to smaller digs. Many businesses are going fully remote office entirely, to save on real-estate costs. ---

We just won one important suit yesterday. A lawsuit. And I'm pretty sure it involved a few flights here and there. But it's only money from those people who contribute, not from people who sit on the sidelines...

Or maybe they are getting a new jurisdiction and jury pool to deal with BS lawsuits?

nah, it's almost certainly a business decision. If the NRA owns the building they probably want to offload it before the commercial RE market gets softer and they end up with an asset they owe more on than is worth. The (potential) move to a friendly jurisdiction would be a big bonus though.

Well... It could simply be 'that' time. From 1996... THE NEW OWNER OF THE OLD NRA BUILDING HAS A LOAD OF OPTIONS

The NRA has not misled me nor lost my trust ! I am pleased they are considering moving to a better area.
Its a real shame New York is part of the great global gun ban system. If I had a crystal ball I would have advised them to get out of there back in the 90s or maybe even 1900! That said we lucky to have so many Swami's here on cal guns that know NRAs motivation better than the NRA . Swami's who might even beat their several wives ! |

The letter about sale of a piece of real estate equally implies that WLP is doing something wrong as it implies you are doing something wrong. We either make arbitrary and idiotic statements about financial gain, including how you benefit, or we stick to the facts of the sale, which is as exciting as watching the grass grow - the NRA is selling some real estate. And I'm glad you agree that implying financial gain or irregularity from a simple fact that an organization is selling a fixed asset is both idiotic and untrue. Now read your OP and what you implied in the last paragraph of that post and you'll see exactly that - idiocy and lack of truth.

How can for sale ad imply Wayne is doing something wrong. One more time, the letter was written and posted by the NRA and sent to RE agents in the city.
