Default Gen 2/3 Night Vision or Thermal?

I have had a few Night vision optics and replaced them over time with thermal. 2 buddies still swear but clip on N/V and illuminators. For me it's hard to get away from all that thermal offers you, especially at the price points today. The one that I use the most is a .17 HMR AR with an ATN Thermal on it.

Thanks for asking for more clarification, thermal scope, and Clip-on N/V scope so that you can use your existing day scope. I had a giant one from ATN more than a decade ago, worked great, but it was huge.
