Default Aimpoint pro mount. Larue broke.

Just like it says. My larue mount in junk. The optic wiggles in the mount. I dropped my mk18 mod 0 clone. Any one have a mount they recommend? I have been looking for an old 68 mount. If anyone has a line on one. Or a mount I can drop as much as I want. I'm going to call larue this morning. I don't expect help from them but, they might help. This is not a warranty problem. I'm just not impressed with the durability of the the larue mount.

Sounds like something broke when you dropped it? Larue is definitely not junk. Battle tested. Been running them for years. I've got about four or five of them on my rifles now.

Have you tried contacting Larue to see if it is covered by warranty?

If you want QD and durability, GDI. I am also a big fan of Bobro.

If you want strength but don’t need QD, I’m a fan of Geissele or Seekins.

OEM/factory mount looks pretty robust as well.

Normally I'd suggest getting a Scalarworks... But if you broke a thick LaRue mount... Wow

The Aimpoint factory mount is the grunt-proof option. I've got a Scalarworks LEAP that's been warranteed already and some various American Defense and Alamo Four Star mounts (aka ZRODelta) and they're good, but the factory mount seems the most durable.

Aimpoint oem mounts are over built in a good way. I use the oem mount (comp M4) and all I chose to do was flip the mount so the knob was on the port side and not ejection side.

Gotta ask what you're doing with the rifle that ends up with the optics mount breaking? At that level of "abuse", got to think the optic itself is also going to break too. Aimpoint or not, the metal optic housing is going to bend or dent...

LaRue has a pretty solid reputation for making tough stuff. Give them a call, I'm sure they'll take care of you under warranty.

If you've really lost confidence in the LaRue mount, sell the replacement mount they send you on the Calguns marketplace and try something else.

did you call? Id be curious what happened? LaRue mounts are typically fantastic. I cant imagine them telling you to go pound sand unless there some additional info not shared yet.

I agree with other posters, Larue makes high quality products. That being said, any company, no matter how high the quality can have a lemon, its just less likely. If you got a lemon, you really need to contact Larue. They are proud of their products and would like to know if they had a bad batch or a QC failure.

Even though they stand behind their products, if the mount was abused, they may not fix or replace it for you.

Also, where did you purchase the mount? If you purchased off of eBay or Amazon, know that sometimes they sell counterfeit products. Larue can determine if it is a genuine product or a counterfeit.

If your heart is set on a different mount, I used the military issue M68 Aimpoint overseas and they were all issued with the no frills QRP mount. It's bare bones, but a high quality and durable mount system. It should fit your PRO. If you do find an Aimpoint QRP mount, know that it isn't high enough to clear a standard front sight. You will need to use the Aimpoint riser to clear a front sight on an M4. The Army issue M68's come with the spacer, which sandwiches in the the bottom part of the ring.

Did you drop your rifle and optic/mount on the carpet, OP?

Have you checked the screws in your Larue mount? If the optic is wiggling then the screws may have backed out or sheared off.

I'd believe that the optic bent after being dropped rather than the LaRue being damaged, but I can't really understand the OP's writing enough to be sure I know what & how the damage occurred.
