Default Did CRPA Foundation change from 501(c)(3) to 501(c)(4)?

The acknowledgment letter of my donation on May 25, 2019, read as follows:

Quote:
Thank you for your charitable contribution to The CRPA Foundation of $XXX.

The CRPA Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. As such, donations to The CRPA Foundation are generally tax deductible, subject to confirmation by your tax professional and based on your individual tax circumstances.
However, that for my donation on June 28, 2019, says:

Quote:
Thank you for your $XXX contribution to the California Rifle & Pistol Association.

The CRPA Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization. As such, donations to The CRPA Foundation are not tax deductible.
Was there a status change in CRPA Foundation? Or did my two donations go to different organizations, one to the Foundation, the other to the Association proper?

Thanks.

Website still says 501(c)(3)

https://crpa.org/crpa-foundation/

The CRPA Foundation is a tax-exempt entity incorporated under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and under California law. Contributions to The CRPA Foundation are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law (Consult a tax professional for specific advice on how such contributions may be tax deductible).

It depends...

Quote:
The California Rifle & Pistol Association (CRPA), founded in 1875, is a nonprofit 501 (c)(4) membership and donor supported organization...

Some of CRPA’s non-profit efforts are funded through CRPA’s sister organization, the CRPA Foundation (CRPAF). CRPAF is a 501 (c)(3) organization, therefore contributions to the CRPAF are generally tax deductible...
The differences are important when it comes to organizations of this type.

Post the donation link you used, maybe they've got wrong info listed?

Looks like the second one is for the association proper with some misprint language about the foundation.

I have a donation from 06/28 also and it reads like your first example and is consistent with my previous monthly donations to the foundation.

I clicked the Contribute links in their fundraising emails. The first email was dated May 23, 2019, "A moment of opportunity" with sender "C. D. Michel via CRPA Foundation", in which it talked about CRPA's having filed the amicus briefs in the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v NYC case. The second email was dated June 28, 2019, "RE: Monday" with sender "C. D. Michel via CRPA", in which Mr. Michel wrote of a dollar-for-dollar match.

So I guess readysetgo was correct: the first donation went to the Foundation while the second went to the Association. The second acknowledgment letter should've omitted "Foundation" from its statement.

Thank you and everyone who answered my question!
