Default Today I called the cops on the cops…

Earlier today I phoned the LACo Sheriff’s Department for a non-emergency detail of a stolen vehicle. The deputy arrived rather quickly and took the information, etc.

Later on in the day, I phoned the Sgt/watch commander and notified her that the responding deputy was very polite, professional and personable, she sounded rather shocked to get such a phone call. The deputy and I even talked flashlights and weapon lights afterwards.

Good job LASD, thank you.

Next to me is a vacant lot elevated above my property. Across from that lot is a 7/11, it was about 10-11 Pm and noticed two vehicles parked on the lot with a someone walking back and forth with a drop leg holster. The wife noticed them and the ensuing discussion of should we call the police. I told her I think they are the police and she in typical fashion disagreed. An she said she was calling the police, which she did. 911 dispatch had no idea this was a stakeout and radioed for officers to check out the suspicious vehicles. I am sure after a few terse radio calls the stake out team got the other units called off. And they went about watching the 7/11. And we got called back by the local station that they in deed where officers watching for a suspect who was hitting local convenient stores. Long story short my wife did call the cops on the cops.

That was excellent. The good ones never get the attention they deserve.

I wouldn't go so far as "never". I will agree to "most times" for sure. I make it a point to call and thank LE for good work.

I can top that. I’m driving down a busy road. A man is naked and exposing his penis to traffic. Full on dancing and facing traffic.. I’m about the call the police when a cop pulls up next to me. I ask him to roll his window down, he does. I ask if he sees the guy next to us. He says “yes, what’s the problem?” Shocked I say “he’s flashing traffic, he’s wagging his penis at us”.
“So what? What do you want me to do about it?”

Arrest him!

“For what? It’s not illegal”. I’m thinking this dude is joking. Light turns green and he continues on his way.

I called to report the nude man and bad cop. I gave both their descriptions and car number. Their watch commander called me back to apologize and said she would address the officer in question and he should have either handled it or said/looked to see if it was called on and if someone was going to address it or if he was too busy, called it in himself, either way his reply shouldn’t have been “so what?” She didn’t mention that he was on his way to another call (which if she wanted to cover his *** I’m sure she would have) or off duty or too busy.

Straight up laziness.

I will be retired 20 years on March 31 but I want to thank you for contacting the station and giving the deputy an atta boy. I spent 27yrs. with LASD and it is nice to read that you took the time to call and commend the deputy. We had (and it probably still goes) a saying that it takes 100 atta boys (or girls) to cancel one aw ****.

As a retired LASD Watch Commander, I would like to thank you. I always loved getting these calls, no matter how busy I was at the time.

I will be retired 12 years on March 30th.

Youre welcome Sir. Like I said earlier, the desk Sgt was rather shocked that I actually called.

Default Today I called the cops on the cops…

Today we did a follow up at the actual Santa Clarita sheriff station and the female working the desk was very friendly, professional and went way above and beyond to help us out by getting additional information we really needed.

Looks like I gotta call again and tell the watch commander another good job!

I?m curious. What crime did you want that person (who was likely homeless and probably off his rocker) to be arrested for? Were you willing to hang around, sign a Private Person?s arrest, and make yourself civilly and criminally liable for taking someone?s freedom away?

Even though the WC didn?t tell you that officer was busy, does it automatically mean he wasn?t?

I?m just asking. I wasn?t there.

Not sure why the forum is changing my apostrophes to question marks.
