Default ATF FFL03 approval time line

How long does it normally take to recieve notification of ATF FFL03 approval? I recieved my CA COE in 10 calendar days. I'm on Calendar Day 27 for my FFL03 approval since they charged my credit card.

It can take as long as 90 days. Though it's usually less.

Be patient. I don't think there is a single queue that all agents that work on these things work off of. I have heard of people getting theirs back after two weeks while at the same time mine took ten weeks. Don't bother to call the ATF to inquire the status of your application. Just sit tight at home and wait patiently.

Thanks --I don't plan on calling or contacting the ATF anytime soon. I was actually surprised my CA COE was sent to me within 10 days. I just needed to get an idea of the "general expected" time frame on the FFL03. I'm just glad they charged my credit card and I'm able to track it that way, at least they received my application. I'm sure the ATF are busy these days.
Thanks

I mailed my renewal in late November, I got the license back in mid April. My change of address a year and a half ago took 2 weeks.

Looks like we sent ours in around the same time. My card was charged on 06 June and I'm still waiting.

The date your card was charged or check was cashed has ZERO to do with the license mailing date. It could take as long as 3 months, and I've seen it as short as 10 days for a renewal. Calling the BATFE licensing office will get you the same answer.

Iím aware of that. Iím simply using that date instead of when I mailed it in as I know for a fact they received it at least by then.

Thatís also why I havenít called to ask for a status update. I know how government works. Approval times do seem to be all over the place, which I find interesting.

Cheers

I think its just one person for California actually. She is very nice to deal with.

Has anyone seen it take a while for your card to be charged for the FFL03? I sent mine in on 6/11, with the credit card info filled out, it's been a little over 2 months and I've still not even seen a charge placed on my card. Should I be worried, or just hold tight?

Took three months to get my C&R and two days to get my COE.

Did you remember, did they charge you / deposit check right away, or near the very end?

They charged my card 6 days after I mailed my application, which was about 2 weeks before you, going off your date of 6/11.

Couldn't tell you why you haven't been charged yet.

Just received the license in the mail today (plus the packet with the book). So, it took just over 9 weeks. I reviewed my credit card statement again, and realized I missed the charge, because it didn't have a name I was expecting, I was looking for something like "DOJ" or "BATFE", but it was just listed as "FIREARMS&EXPLOSIVES", which probably describes a lot of stuff I buy on my credit card

You got a packet? All I got was the license in an envelope.

It was two separate envelopes, but they happened to arrive on the same day. The bigger packet was the list of C&R firearms, a few other sheets, and a note about missing publication (P3317.2) due to backorder, though it's available online.

My renewal application is filled out, in the provided envelope and pretty much ready to go. The license expires Nov 1 so this time I will mail the renewal app certified (delivery confirmation), this way I can look online and verify the renewal made the trip. I usually go with a personal check or credit card and watch my account for payment to post so I know the renewal app made the trip but the sooner I know the application is stacked in a processing bin in Atlanta the better...
