Default .22 squib

Shot some Remington Thunderbolt out of my Kidd UL Barrel today. No problems. Switched to some Winchester White Box, and about 20rds in, had a squib. Had to use a metal rod to knock it out. This ever happen to anyone else using a Kidd UL Barrel?

I don't think the barrel had anything to do with it.

I’m sure the barrel didn’t. I’ve heard mixed reviews on WWB 22, Just found it remarkable to have a squib out of a .22

I've seen several .22s that ended up stuck in dirty barrels.

One place where autos can be safer than manual guns. A squib won't cycle so passive pause is induced.

(1) Always have rifle cleaning rod in my range bag.
(2) I had couple squib with Federal Range& Field .22LR ammo, it happened on the pistol that had the symptom of light strike, I do not know does the light strike contribute to the squib or not ? I used (1) to remove the (squib) bullet and then shoot again .
(3) Whenever I hear ANY abnormal sound, the first thing I do is use (1) to check the squib. A peace of mind and a good practice.

(Keep a rifle cleaning rod in your range bag may save a day)

I have not had a squib but many years ago I used to run into complete duds while shooting budget .22 long rifle ammunition.
Usually I was using a Ruger 10/22 so you just manually cycle the action, the round would come out and you would see the firing pin dent on the rim of the ammo and theoretically you could cyclic back through the gun but .22 ammo was so much cheaper back then.
(I think it happens when the primer doesn't get applied to the rim of the case.)

It seems like it got better over time (many years) and I don't think I have ever had it happened yet with CCI .22 ammo

Any Winchester .22 that isn't a higher end line like the Super-X or similar is complete garbage. I had 5 bricks of Winchester white box and couldn't shoot it up fast enough to get rid of it. I had a minimum of one FTF every 10 rounds in a Ruger 10/22 Ruger MKIV and even a Ruger LCR .22. All of these firearms are very reputable .22s that have flawlessly functioned(when clean) all other brands and types of .22 with no issues.

To answer your question, I don't have a Kidd UL barrel. I'd put the blame on Winchester white box, not the barrel. You can't even give me that stuff. It was a chore to shoot it up. Federal is usually only a dollar or 2 more a brick and its entirely worth it.

I must be the unluckiest person ever, because in a box of 300rds of CCI Mini-Mag I got 2 squibs last month (P22, all stock)

Gone through about 800rds of Rem GB's since then and no squibs, but they don't like to feed and sometimes FTE too (about 1 in 30).

Never had a rimfire squib and I've shot >20,000 22LR rounds over 40 years, many different ammo brands in many different guns.
Duds - lots of those though.
