Default over sized 1911 left side mag catch hole

This guy brought me a 1911 at the MCL that he said someone worked on and the Mag catch hole is worn on the left side so the mag catch falls right through. Dose any one make an over sized Diameter Mag catch. Before I have to weld the hole and re drill.

Can you show some pics of the mag catch hole. Because a magazine catch on a 1911 are not the same shape on the right side compared to the left. Also I can’t think of any reason anyone would ever do anything to the frame in those locations.

Just trying to wrap my head around this.

Its the round hole that's supposed to be .288. It looks like the top half of the hole has no ledge so its the same size as the hole on the right side minus the dog leg. And I can't imagine the same thing but that's what I have, now I just need some way to fix it. If I can't come up with another solution I'll have to turn a copper rod the same size push it in from the right and weld the hole shut and then re mill. You can't see the hole that good showing a picture.

If you have a milling machine and a rotation table or a boring head and small boring bar, I would make that copper plug undersized, weld the hole up and then mill/bore the hole back to the size you want.
You get a better finish after having cut back into the welded area than you get when you just leave the surface that was created while welding against the copper plug.

It's definitely more work that way, but the results are better.
You are talking about a hole where the mag catch has to slide in and out of it every time the mag release is actuated.

Yes, that's what I was talking about and yes its the side that you have to release the mag from. That hole is supposed to be .288 it is actually .310

You have a truly single shot pistol unless fix is done or a custom mag release made. That sucks be cheaper to buy a new 80% frame and start anew.

This is an original Colt 1911 and I don't think the customer would want to trash it.
