Nice, I hadn't thought about that. Well that kinda makes it the P320 for 1911's. If you kept all the parts you have 3 guns for probably less than $1K pre-tax and DROS. And, since you now have the 10MM slide you can easily add the 40S&W to the mix buy just adding the barrel.

How does the 10MM run for you?

Has anybody seen the SA loaded 1911, 9mm in stores recently? This would be one that I might be able to swing. Maybe I'll look into ordering one.

couple of things to consider while narrowing down your choices;

frame - steel, alloy, polymer?
action - DAO, SAO DA/SA?
safety - yes/no, decocker?
size - full size stated in op
sights - fixed, adjustable, target, replaceable, night, 2 dot/3 dot, RMR?
accessories - light, laser, grips?
capacity?
holster?
options, parts, service and repair availability?

sounds like you've already narrowed some of the criteria but there's still a fair bit of differences between the ones you mentioned..

with regards to roster, remember older models 50yo+ are exempt and ppt options, etc.

but since we're all weighing in and you've stated a slight lean towards Beretta - I'll cast my vote for the 92 series..

definitely worth a look, especially with budget in mind..

and besides great performance in their own right - they check a lot of boxes and hold value pretty well..

Sig p226 is also dandy worth considering for same reasons but tend to run a tad north of Beretta prices..

I will admit, my first sig went to the factory for the aep/srt package and my second was a WPD turn-in that was carried by a close friend that also had work done to it, he was a factory certified armorer..

my Berettas are bone stock and haven't had the slightest inclination to do anything to either of them..

I haven't. SW list it @ $1049.99 and out of stock. I did see a couple on GB starting at $999. But then you have to add shipping and transfer fees. Could still work out depending on who you use for transfer. 2A is good but you can pay less if you're willing to drive a bit to pay less. But then you have to count gas and time.

I have a CZ75B and I love it, with the carry options of cocked and locked or lower the hammer for DA. The CZ75BD has a decocker rather than the safety if you prefer to decock the pistol and run DA.

Not sure you'll find it sub-$1K. With tax and DROS, you are probably looking at $1200.

While it looks like a 1911, it's a different gun. I've heard mixed reviews on it.

I've done some research and didn't read anything negative about em except for the early guns. If you run across anything negative can you please share...

I recall looking at smaller 1911s 20 years ago ... I really liked the Warthog back then but I've got more confidence in SA and their customer service.

My 9mm full size debate came down to CZ and Beretta. After a couple range test drives, went with Beretta 92FS, now with red laser and light. The Beretta, in 20yrs of range plinking, has never had a FTF.

Shoots amazingly well.

Bit heavy to carry if you're looking for a smaller gun IMHO.

If you like the M9/92A1, buy that one. These are certainly reliable and nice pleasant to shoot.

Do this…you won’t regret it. I have one and it has run great…near 10k thru it and no issues, shoots great and is a tack driver. I think I paid about a grand for it years ago. There was a time when they allegedly made them in batches or some damn thing and it drove the price up when they got to gun stores cause people, like me, were laying in wait!

It is likely more now…but a great gun. Others have bitched about things with them…and it a production gun…but like I said, mine has been great.

Use? - if it's going to be a CCW gun get a poly frame. You'll be thankful for the lighter weight.

I would vote for a Sig 2022. But you should be able to find a used Sig 226 in your price range.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I guess that I'm just looking for something different. I recall looking at the Warthog 15+ years ago and really liking it. When the EMP crossed my path I did some research and really came to like it too..

I love my Beretta M9A1. Switched out the stock grips for the Hogue ones with the finger grooves. Made an easy to shoot gun even easier to shoot. Super reliable.

I don't like Sigs; something about the slide being so high above my grip just doesn't feel right to me.

I don't really care for CZ75s either; the slides on those are really small and hard to grip.

Glock 17 is nice, if you're into Glocks. Definitely has a blocky feel though, especially compared to my Beretta.

Haven't really shot much else in terms of full size 9mms.

Yup the downside to CZ are their small grip area on the slides. Grip though is best I've had
