Default March tactical challenge scores / AAR

2012 BRRC Tactical Challenge I AAR

We had 12 shooters show up to compete in the March event, we score only misses so a perfect score would be “0”.
The match started in the back of the canyon with the offhand stage, steel targets were placed between about 150-225 yards, Steve Pedersen and Jeff Mendoza led the field both firing “cleans”.
Stage 2 was another position event, fired from the sitting or kneeling positions on smaller steel targets located about 300+ yards, the shooters were only allowed a sling and glove for support, top shooters for the stage were Gary Fowler and Jeff Mendoza, both firing a score of 1
Stage 3 was the last of the position stages, fired from the prone position with only a sling and glove for support, targets were placed at about 425+ yards, new comer Joe Berg firing his first match took everyone to school by firing a clean for the top spot.
Stage 4 was fired from the prone position but this time with the help of a bipod and rear bag, the targets were getting further away (625+ yards)and more difficult , Martin Tardif and Joe Berg led the pack both firing a score of 1
Stage 5 was the time exposure drill, shooters were given a very short 2-3 second time window to identify and engage a target from about 400 yards, Martin Tardif was top gun firing a score of 1.
Stage 6 was fired on the same targets as the previous stage but this time they were moving targets, the target made one pass across the pit wall, shooters fired five rounds, most shooters had a rough time on this stage but Martin Tardif fired a score of 3 to best the stage.
The final stage was a stress course where the shooters fired on both pistol and rifle targets from various improvised positions, the stage placed a high demand on preparedness and flexibility, 21 targets ranged from about 10 yards to over 700, the shooters found the stage very challenging, but Allen Thomas made it look easy firing an outstanding score of 1.
When the dust settled we had a tie between Martin Tardif and George Reinas for second place, so a dot drill at 100 was needed to sort it out, the two were neck and neck until the last shot, Martin came away with second.
I’d like to thank those who helped set up and break down the match, as well as the competitors who come out and support the match, the Tactical Challenge series is designed to test the competitors shooting skills under a variety of practical field scenarios, the next event is scheduled for June 23rd, hope to see you there.
Best regards, Gary Eliseo
