https://riversideca.permitium.com/ccw/start

Basically...
Complete application and submit it
Background Check done after application is submitted and initial fees paid
Complete training (list of approved trainers on their website)
Do interview with investigator
You will reverie a call when your card is available. Assuming Background check is all good.

Not required but definitely recommended.....get more training.

Sheriff Bianco recently said in an Interview the process for renewals should be started 90 days before expiration because of COVID-19. I'm assuming new applications will be similar time frame because they usually take longer so be patient.

Sure thing.

If I recall correctly it cost somewhere between $350-$400 all in. That would include, application, training, fingerprint, and passport photo.

Of course this assumes you have holster for the class already.

Should we mention the Google test that must be passed before a CCW can be issued?

Sheesh.

How concerned should I be about composing an acceptable "good cause statement"? It's the only thing that has ever prevented me from applying for and (hopefully) obtaining a permit. Having done some research on training facilities, they all seem willing to work with clients regarding the statement. I'm an Orange County resident, BTW. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Contact Steve Liberman at Artimis Defense Institute https://www.artemishq.com/

Also, if you attend CRPA's FREE Pre-CCW class his consultation is half price. Assuming he's still doing that of course.

He'll help you craft up your good cause. It's not necessary but I found it to be worth it.

He's in OC but I'm in Riverside County and the Investigator for my IA said it was "perfect". It was specific to me and my lifestyle.

Of the four reasons I listed as my good cause I would have only thought of one.

OP, check out the Riverside County CCW thread. It'll give you a good clear idea of what step is next and what all is going on

What’s a good cause statement for Riverside county? Do I need to give a story or say why I feel like I need a CCW?

You explain why you need to carry a loaded firearm in public.

Riverside County does not consider self-defense to be a good cause.

Not absolutely...It's close.....was just told putting self-defence isn't enough.

From what I understand it has to be written in such a way the it's not self-defense.

Unfortunately, I can only speak from my experience. I'd really be interested in knowing if someone literally wrote "Self-defense" as their good cause and got approved.
