Default FFL that understands interstate interfamilial transfer

My son lives in Texas. He wants to gift me an off roster handgun.
This is legal and there are articles about it on the Calguns wiki.

Having a heck of a time finding an ffl who understands it. Any suggestions and or success stories?

Even better go retrieve it in person, bring it back and submit the $19 fee to the DOJ and call it done, no FFL needed.

Your location may help guide to to someone to do the transfer is you still want to go that way.

^^^ FUD Felony. Interstate intrafamilial transfer must go thru ffl. Either father ships to ffl here or goes with son to ffl here. Lots of posts on this.

Do the parents need to take it to their local ffl to have them ship it or can the parents ship it directly to the California ffl?

That's a discretionary business practice controlled by the receiving FFL.

It is perfectly legal for a private citizen to ship a firearm across state lines. As long as it is received by a licensed FFL in the state it is shipped to.

It is not mandatory that the receiving FFL accept the shipment from a private citizen. Some don't.

Always best practice to make prior arrangements with receiving FFL before doing anything.
