Arrow QUALITY CCW training - from somebody experienced

Thanks for the referrals guys (and gals)! As we may see more new instructors getting into this field of CCW instruction, and some with very little experience themselves, it is rather important to get the training that you deserve. I received a call recently that there is somebody attempting to instruct an initial CCW class for about $50. BEWARE~ you get what you pay for (as I have been stressing for many years). I am an advocate for more instructors that will be instructing CCW classes (as long as they have the experience).

i took John's new ccw class on 10/7 and was very impressed. He prepared me for exactly what was going to happen in my interview and I was so ready that the interviewer told me that I was getting a "gold star for preparedness" for that day.

Best Handgun Training is excellent.

I was wondering if it is possible to qualify with a Derringer? Also I'm interested in the class.

Thanks LewDogg21 ! I'm so glad that you enjoyed the class, and were well prepared. That is rather important for a smooth and quicker process. You will get your permit sooner than others that are not as prepared.

I will say that qualifying with a Derringer at 10 yards away is not impossible, but rather difficult for most. Placer County does not allow any Derringer on a permit, but other counties do. I do not recommend considering a Derringer for your LTC, because the chances of qualifying are rather slim. There are many other conceal carry options out there. But, if you do not reside in Placer, you are certainly welcome to attempt to qualify with your Derringer.

Took the 16 hour course with Mike Davis this week. Mike is a great guy! Qualifying at the 'range' was fun, too. Thanks for the Calguns discount!
I turned in my paperwork yesterday, and hope to get my permit any day now.

I took the 16hr Initial CCW course with John and Wes this Sun. Got the Calguns discount and had a good time. 2 other guys were doing their initial for Placer County and we were all mixed in with about 7 other guys doing their CCW renewals. Great info from John and Wes detailing the CCW process for the various counties along with their own experiences. Makes me want to relocate to El Dorado

I did wish the shooting range portion was a little bit longer, but I guess the guys renewing wanted to get out of there (even though most of them could've used the practice ). Some of the targets I saw made me question how they originally qualified...

Really glad to see classes like that - keeping my fingers crossed that the talk of Reciprocity can only help us in some way in CA.

Yes, hopefully national reciprocity someday soon. I don't see it happening within the next year or so without a long legal battle. But, fingers crossed

Last week my wife and I took a initial ccw class at a place referred to us by a salesman at our local range, needless to say it failed my expectations and had me looking for another class to take. Even tho the wife and I qualified and got our initial permits not all instructors are equal.

Called John and told him my story and he scheduled us in his class today. Let me tell you John is a real professional when it comes to training, he is well informed on current and past laws and made sure everyone in the class was on the same level.
I cannot say enuff good about his ccw class, as someone who has taken 2 16 hour classes in a week and a half I can honestly say I left his class feeling confident and secure with the knowledge I gained.
As John said "CCW is serious business ".

Again thanks John for making Tracy and I feel safe and confident and well versed on what it takes to be a responsible CCW'er.

Look forward to taking your tactical ccw class.

James & Tracy

James & Tracy,

Thank you so much for the review, as it means a lot to me. And it was a pleasure having both of you in the CCW class today. Thank you for being a responsible CCW permit holder I'm sorry that your other instructor didn't guide you as he should have, and I am pleased that I was able to provide a thorough training today.

I look forward to seeing you for the tactical training, as you will have a lot of fun, while even learning much more, including shooting while moving, shooting from cover/concealment, active shooter scenarios, etc. (the class is instructed by 2 local and active law enforcement officers).

See you soon, and be safe!

Followed the link here and just signed up for an all-day next Saturday... but forgot to put Calguns in the comments but it's all good. It should be a worthwhile 60-mile drive to Lincoln.

Just one question though, I've been shooting paper targets since 2013 and plan to visit the range before Saturday. Any advice as to what to specifically focus on?
Thank you.

Hi Tonyson,

No problem, just be sure to let us know that you are here from Calguns, when you fill out your sign in information in the morning. You will not have any problem qualifying, provided that you have your gun safety skills down. If you can shoot a 9" paper plate from 10 yards away, you are good to go. See you next Saturday. Yes, you should enjoy the drive, and will enjoy our private range. If you have questions, send me an email. john (at) besthandguntraining.com

Thanks,

Looking to attend a single day Sacramento CCW course, but don't see it on the calendar. Is it still being offered?
Are there any slots available for July?

No, it is spread out over 2 days for the 16 hour training. It can be 2 days straight, or split up into 2 different days over a period of time.

I do have dates/times available on my website at www.besthandguntraining.com It is day 1 of 2 , and day 2 of 2.

Thanks,

Great class today, informative, no BS, straight forward. I was getting the non res UT ccw and all necessary paperwork and fingerprinting were taken care of. Only need the 2x2 inch passport photo and a check to mail it off. UT does not require any shooting type qualification but John wants to see for himself that you can and are safe doing so. And yes, he gave me the CG discount so another bonus.

Thanks again John

Found this on calguns and gave them a shot. No pun intended hehehe. Great class, very informative and got my application in order to be submitted to UT. Also when your there let them know your cool and that your from calguns. If I decide to move to a shall issue county I will definitely do the training with them.
