Four hundred million dollars. On a wasted effort, Newsom will NOT be recalled. That's an unconsciousable amount of money to squander...

New faces enter fray as California recall slowly takes shape

Quote:
...The list of Republican challengers who have signaled an intention to enter the race is about to top 20, though no consensus front-runner has emerged. State Assemblyman Kevin Kiley this week became the latest to announce he is considering stepping in...

With Kiley’s potential entry into the race, it signals that many Republicans remain underwhelmed with the field so far, which includes businessman John Cox, who Newsom defeated in 2018, former San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and reality TV personality and 1976 Olympic decathlon champion Caitlyn Jenner...

Looks like the previous estimates of $400,000,000 on the cost of the recall election were off by a bit. Now projected to be "at least" $215,000,000.

That's a list of 'declared' candidates and I can't speak to whether they are, yet, 'officially' candidates. Neither can I speak to their 'credentials.'

Unfortunately, I don't believe that if Newsom is recalled, that the replacement is going to be based, primarily, on that individual's qualifications. Such is particularly true in that the replacement need not win a 'majority' of the vote and will simply be required to get 'more votes' than anyone else.

At what point does Newsom 'cross the line' in terms of 'bribing the voters?'

Newsom says California will pay off unpaid rent accrued during coronavirus pandemic (also see the Calguns OT thread... California will pay off all back rent payments.)

Vax for the Win: California’s vaccine incentive program

Newsom promises $600 stimulus checks as California projects budget surplus

California Roars Back: Governor Newsom Announces Largest State Tax Rebate in American History

I mean, I'm not the only one to notice... Opinion: With his fortunes improving, while proposing spending a fortune, Newsom wants to speed up the recall

Quote:
California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, has been splashing monetary promises across the state at a time when, it’s hard not to notice, he also faces the prospect of a recall vote...
I know such is SOP for many politicians; but, how many voters are likely to believe the promises?

Wouldn't it be more believable that Newsom would 'promise' some of this stuff, then blame the Legislature for not passing it, making it 'impossible' for him to fulfill his promises?
