Default Gunfighter closing down retail store

Unfortunately due to CA red tape and a crappy landlord, GFT will be closing their retail store.

Major bummer. Sad to see such a great shop shutting down, but it sounds like they are pretty content with re-focusing their energy into the other business, so at least there is a positive outcome there.

went by today, and 3 of the 5 storefronts were closed. I have to believe the owner of the lot wants everyone out so they can sell it to developer.

We hate to see another FFL close in CA. Lease non-renewals are awful. We do still off AR Pistols at least, so there's still availability even if we are a little drive

GFT was the bomb. They'll re-open somewhere else. I used to go to them when they had the crappiest location off of Miramar and then moved to their current store.

Those guys are way too good to just close shop due to a crappy landlord.

"free enterpise" is concerned ONLY with making the most money. Period. If they can make more by selling it to a developer - they will. And probably should.

Ahhh dammit! That sucks! Man this town is hurting for quality gun shops and GFT was the very best. They will be sorely missed.

Godspeed on the smithing and Cerekoting shop!

I thought you could only store guns if you have an FFL. Would they still be able to take in guns for smithing and cerakote if they forfeit their FFL license?

You confuse free enterprise, sole proprietor, and public corporations.

I and many people I know ran/run very successful profitable businesses for decades. While the bottom line was necessary to continue operations, it was hardly our main focus let alone the only one.

Read the link. At least for the time being they have zero plans to reopen as an ffl anywhere. Really sad, I have a few AR pistols from them and always had guns transferred there. They will be missed

So sad...that is my spot for all things firearms. I’ve watched my kids grow up playing in the play area while I dropped off or picked up an new project or did a transfer/bought something sweet on consignment. Those guys will bounce back. The last year an a half were hard on them for sure so it would be a challenge.

It felt like a punch in the gut when I saw their post on Facebook this morning. Such a big loss for the 2A community in San Diego. They did so many great things: AR pistol and black rifle builds, free ammo transfers, fast and efficient PPT's, training classes, the legal battles in conjunction with SDCGO and FPC, etc. They were also the first shop in SD - and maybe all of California - to sell standard capacity magazines when Freedom Week kicked off! Man, this really sucks.

I really hope they will reconsider and reopen again in the future. Maybe they can open a retail space in a more "gun-friendly" part of town, perhaps East County? I'm glad the gunsmithing and cerakote side of the house will continue, but it just isn't the same without the shop.

To add insult to injury, the landlord would rather have a pot shop in their place...gotta love that the stuff isn't legal (federally).

This was my thought as well. That's a prime piece of land and I bet in this market, the owner just wants to sell the entire property or redevelop it for a client who will pay millions each year.

I'm very sad to hear this news. I wish all of them the best - Ryan, Lee, Morgan and all the staff who were so professional in a tough industry.

I too am saddened, although the last information I had from Ryan was that he and the partner weren't sure how it was going to play out. I guess now I know. Ryan really wanted to keep it going, even though he moved to TN recently. I wish him the best.

I loved that they treated everyone the same...police and non-police. Everyone got the same treatment.

On a side note, GFT closing leaves a huge opening for one of the existing stores to fill a huge void. If they came close to how well GFT treated their customers their business would boom due to all the people looking for a new store.

The only way Gunfighter could have been a better gun store was a liquor license.

They are in it, and have always been in it, for the love of the sport.

I've been looking to get an old Ruger MK refinished. They will be my go-to from now on.

Doom on the landlord for this carp.

GFT is going to release a list of stores they recommend. AO Sword was one they mentioned. I'll have to take a look. But you are absolutely right. I am a one gun store kinda guy, and will travel if they treat me right. Ryan from GFT knew me by name and always made it as easy as possible for me to shop there.

Default Gunfighter closing down retail store

Just saw the post of FB….this bites. Just want to say thanks to Ryan & Lee for all their service to the 2A community and you will be missed! Only place I went & trusted.

Now who’s going to pick up the “ball?” Can anyone else provide the amazing customer service and prices of GFT?!? Doubt it but we’ll see I guess.

Good luck to you guys and thanks again for all the hard work!

Any shops decent for ammo transfers, PPTs, gun transfers?

Before GFT, it was parallax tactical for me, but even they went down hill.

Honey Badger pushes their transfers to Gusslers in Santee.

Good guy, home operation with specific hours so check first.
