Chris Reeve Professional Soldier USN Limited Edition :

Designed by William HArsey, the Professional Soldier had a 3.5" .160 thick S35VN in Gunkote. I remember seeing these at The Gathering in 2011 but didn't grab one. The USN forum is about to undergo a major transformation and change of platform and this came up in a fundraiser auction to help with the transition and I couldn't resist. Interestingly (to me), while the knife is a special edition with the USN logo cut into the handle, the sheath is a production version molded to the form of the production Professional Soldier.

It's a very handy size minimalist blade made with top shelf steel. It's on the larger size for a true neck knife, but is an interesting balance of something that could be used hard, but small enough to easily carry.

I hadn't had a CRKT for a long time, but I think that was the first fixed blade I really liked a Sawtooth 2000 or some similar model from Big5.

I just got their new slipjoint and it is a winner. $25-$35 1.87 ounces, great walk and talk.

Cold Steel AD10, designed by Andrew Demko. Got a good deal on it during a sale online. It's big but not overly big. Won't be an ECD but more a camping blade.

AD10 and 4-Max/4-Max Scout are probably the closest thing to a folding fixed blade you will get. I don't know if his new locks are stronger than a TRI-AD, but I beat the hell out of the 4-Max Scout (with a dead blow hammer and a wood baton) and it got a tiny bit loose. May be able to just tighten the pivot to get rid of the minute side to side play, but no other folder could have handled that. Previous choice would have been a Contego 810 in M4, but the Demko design is a lot tougher IMHO. It is not just the TRI-AD lock either. You could not torture a Talwar or many other TRI-ADS like you can the AD10 and clones.

Well...not a recent purchase, but I found this stuck in a Beer Stein on a shelf in my old bedroom at my moms house.

I moved out in the mid 1980s and the knife dates as a 1981

Slicer for backpacking. Nice sheath and metal clip but had to replace garbage light blue piece with some kydex. Blade is nice and thin. May ditch scales and paracord warp. I like the jimping by handle, wish they would have left it off by the tip.

This Shaman is not bad weight-wise but it is a tank. I have Centofante3 that is super light and also a good lockback. I've been waiting for another good knife in M4 since I got rid of my Becnhmade 810 Contego. This is a Blade HQ exclusive and they got all the details right.

Just took delivery of the Crucarta PM2 (micarta + CPM Cruwear) (top) to compliment my other PM2 (micarta + CPM 20V) (bottom). I like it!

A couple good ones and a couple projects

A K'roo that needs a deeper pull or nail nick added, a Albers stag that had a chip from blade rap... still has the blade rap but work sharped out the chip

Nice Lloyd Zulu, sweet GEC single sheepfoot 15

Made my project K'roo pinchable with a electro etched nick... I used a palmetto state armory sticker to make my mask. It is pinchable now.

Spider Co para 3 maybe a year and half ago. It's been dull for at least a year. I'm stuck between sending it back to get sharpened or buying my own sharpening kit... I don't wanna be without it

I'd just buy a Work Sharp Precision if I didn't have one.

A great sharpener and so inexpensive for what it does.

I just had a knife with blade rap which caused a chip before I got the knife. The Precision sharpened out the chip with ease using all three grits of rotating stones... and left not a single scuff or scratch on the blade in the process.

You will need to know your angles or be good at finding the correct angle, but overall it is the best sharpener I have had... and I have other Worksharps, and set angle ceramic rod sharpeners, stones, rollers, set angle ceramic guide, etc...

I bought this one a few years ago:

Ontario Knife Company, 8674 Ranger, RAK Assault Knife, 6" Plain Blade, Micarta Handle.

It's not really an "assault" knife in my opinion (whatever that means), but a bushcraft or survival knife, capable of chopping down saplings, batoning larger wood, and taking a lot of abuse.

Amazon has these on sale for about $47.00. Not the most prudent (read: grownup) thing I bought recently. They were pretty dry on arrival, and the scabbard did appear to be dragging the finish off the blade. But, a little oil & they’re right as rain.

Sounds right for OKC MILSPEC stuff... retention is good but they DGAF if your parkerization gets dragged and scraped off with a steel spring. Sounds pretty MILSPEC to me. I like it. I have the Chimera and a couple of the OKC-3S.
