i actually have 17 handguns and 5 rifles - bought 11 and 3 since i moved, had to buy a bigger safe too

i usually shoot a couple of times a week, one of the benefits of retirement -we have a few spots out here not too far - there is no lack of getting out and shooting - i pass a lot of time either shooting or cleaning the firearms i've been shooting

thanks for all the recommendations of stuff i might enjoy owning - i'll look into some of them, it's just one of those things, gotta feel attracted to the firearm

i haven't soured at all on guns, i love going out and using them, they're all a little different, some just appeal to me more than others

been thinking about taking the class they have out there in Pahrump, it's been a while since i did something like that - it'd be a fun thing to do together with my son

Do you reload? I found that when I got into reloading that I really enjoyed tinkering and improving my handload recepies.

Maybe guns aren't your thing anymore, and it doesn't have to be. Living in CA I still have most of the guns I want and I have yet to "master" a single one. I'd like to think I'm more than average in proficiency with reloading and advanced drills having access to an open range. But unless you dedicate yourself to competition, throw a bunch of money at it, or join some private army you might have hit a wall in skills and needs. I had to talk myself out of a .338 LM finally settling on the fact that bullets, dies and parts are expensive. It might damage my steel/setup at midrange, my 308 reaches out to 1000 and there's not a lot of places to do that anyway. I don't 100% agree but a friend once said to me, guns don't interest him anymore, how many times can you pull the trigger and know that it's going to go bang... Once you have a few guns that you know work and can protect yourself, home and family and against gov overreach everything else is just "extra"...

I haven't bought or built a gun in four months, and have no particularly pressing desire to do so. If I moved out of state tomorrow, there's a few off-roster or NFA items I would get, but then I'd be set too. I like guns as much as ever, I just don't need all of them.

Buy accessories such as grips to get that high from buying something. Cheaper than a gun.

Selling a gun that you don't like feels good too.

Slumps are great! I attribute my collection entirely to slumps and burnout.

Granted, I'm not made of money and what I have took decades to acquire, but at any given range trip I have a variety of different tools to master and have fun with.

Over the years I've gotten bored with what I have and tried different types of firearms. Milsurp battle rifles, revolvers, .22's, shotguns, hand cannons, lever actions, etc. Rinse and repeat. Rinse and repeat.

A buddy of mine once described my safe as an example of manic indecisiveness. Granted, he was only interested in EBR's and just could not understand wanting anything but plastic stocked semi autos. He also was of the opinion that Gaston Glock was God and felt that revolvers and 1911's belonged in the 1900's only.

I like having the ability to choose from a variety of styles of firearms and calibers for a range day. Variety is great.

Can't find anything in your normal style of choice that tickles your fancy? Think outside the box and move into a different style of gun.

The slump is temporary. Don't panic. It will end soon. Something will come along to spark your interest. Or maybe there is something in your collection that you've overlooked and that will get you back into it.

Barrett .50 cal BMG rifle. If that doesn't keep you busy working to pay it off will.

If only I built that black power rifle last year I could have harvested that bull elk this morning in my back yard (it's day 3 of muzzle loader season here). Nice big 3 pointer.

Thanks a lot! One of those RDIAS would be mine someday.

.
Assuming this is some guy with a lifetime membership that is trying to recoup some money? This is completely legit though? I want some training from them but not really interested in a huge up front investment, especially when their terms are constantly changing.

Have you fired a PCC (Pistol Caliber Carbine)? CZ Scorpion, CMMG Banshee 9mm, Sig MPX-K, etc will get your juices flowing again.

You're in Nevada. You need some SBRs and suppressors, at the very least.

Buy a suppressor or two. I picked up my suppressor about 2 weeks ago and I cant stop shooting it. It was about a year wait for me.

You can go SBR. Those tax stamps have a quick turn around time.

I’m somewhat in a slump. Only a Couple guns I want as collection pieces as of now. But instead of buying those I’m just stocking up on anmo so I can get full enjoyment out of them.

Do you own any version of the SKS? If not get one. They are relatively cheap and tons of fun to shoot.

For me in Utah, current NFA is financially impossible.. However if the rules changed and allowed me to convert 80s Chinese AKs... Game and interest changer..
In the meantime I enjoy CCW and range/BLM time with what I have..

I'm super picky with handguns and not much excites me anymore, about 4 years ago I sold almost my entire collection because I only carried or shot a handful of them. I'm down to my 3 favorites which are the FNS9c, S&W Shield with extended magazine and the M&P Compact 2.0. That last one is the last pistol I was excited about, it's everything I ever wanted in a compact carry gun.

I've considered getting the M&P Compact 2.0 with the 3.4in barrel but that's pretty much the only handgun I think about buying. If they ever get the 15 round mags sorted out for the Glock 43x that might replace my Shield but I want to see 100% reliability with it.

Rifles are different, rifles I have a bunch of and they continue to grow but I keep coming back to the AR platform.

They're legit. They give those out to members. Those $7 eBay training certificates are only good for one 4-day class. The memberships are different, they can be bought from a member, but cannot be advertised online. Many Calgunners on the epic Front Sight thread in the training forum will sell you a membership, IF you like the classes.

No, I do not have a membership to sell.

that's why you need a scar 20s and a high quality optic.
of course they cost a bundle, but worth it to add a capability you don't already possess.

I am in a gun slump myself. Safe is full, and can’t buy anymore guns until I get under the house and brace the floor for the new safe.

I completely understand. I was just thinking on this topic. I’ve been played like a fiddle in CA with guns, Ammo, magazines & AWB. God is good and the safes are full. There is nothing I really need or want. OK, I need to get a scope for the 338-378. I still enjoy shooting, hunting but with Archery, fishing/fly fishing also the dance card is full.
I hit a wall and stopped buying guns almost 2 years ago. I have several guns that have never been shot. Buying guns for my kids is always on the table.
But I don’t feel bad about not wanting to buy more guns. More likely to sell a few.

I’m happily content!
Thank you GOD.

If I was to wish on a star I could use a pair of Zeiss Victory RF Binoculars.

BLASPHEMY!!! I take anything new to the range ASAP, but I pay a yearly membership, but that forces me to try to get my money out of the membership...

I hadn't bought anything for a couple/few years, but since I was at the shop anyways, looking for a $7 mag-catch for my daughter's lower B-Day build finishing (gave the lower to her in 2012 when it was paperwork/FFL-free), I figured why not put the PC Carbine in 9mm in jail... as I had been wanting one of those anyways, and already got mags for it during "Freedom week".

I’ve been on a handgun slump for a while too. I’m talking about the small-frame ones like Glocks and 1911s. All of my attention has been on the large frame “handguns” like the SMG-45 and Bren 2. With the ease of getting Form 1 for these and my slow accumulation of cans, these are slowly fulfilling the desire what CA has been denying me all these years.

I think relief is on the way, though. I caught myself looking at Dan Wesson DWX pretty closely.

But, first quarter of 2020 is still far off. Plenty of time to SBR more stuffs LOL
