Hi all,
I just wanted to add here my thoughts/experience with Josh and VIP CCW's services for anyone that's thinking of qualifying for LA County or a Out-of-State permit--do it now, and do your training with VIP CCW. The benefits: you can do this remotely in the comfort of your home (avoid the traffic and high gas prices) and there is no additional charge for more than one handgun. As an instructor with experience as a LEO, Josh brings an experience and insights that other CCW Instructors may not have. Classes are obviously informative with opportunities for Q&A, certainly not as stuffy as a classroom where one Instructor just talks at you while you take notes (ask me how I know: this was how I completed my Out-of-State Utah permit two years ago, regrettably not with VIP CCW).

My interactions with Josh outside of the class were polite and friendly, and all correspondence was responded to quickly...this was particularly helpful for me, as I did experience some very minor hiccups in some communications with LASD. Despite traveling at the time, Josh got back to me quickly and helped me out.

Range qualification was also fast and enjoyable--you'll have access to a calendar for available dates. Make sure on your qualification day, that all your handguns are cleaned and operational and that you know how to efficiently field-strip and reassemble. You will be tested on this before any shooting is done.

All in all, heartily recommend. Feel free to post any additional questions here, and I'll try to keep up and respond.

Wanted to give Josh from VIP CCW a plug. I completed his course last Friday. Had my certification the next day, and emailed it off to LASD Sunday night. You usually get your certification right after you pass the course, but mine needed to be amended since one of my guns had a mechanical malfunction during the range qual. Josh is very patient and hands on. He wants you to pass and will give you all the tools you need to do so. The rest is up to you. Will be taking his course again soon to add a 3rd firearm, since one of mine crapped out, as well as his multi-state course. Planning to send the wife to him for firearm training as well.

If you're in process, or received the go ahead from the issuing agency to move forward with your training like I had, look no further, he's your guy.

I just completed my CCW renewal for LA County with Josh today. With Josh having a law enforcement background, you get real world insight into situations that any of us could be put in. He was great with everyone in the class and made sure to spend time with each and every person to get the most out of the class. Josh is all about safety, from the minute we started until we finished there were no shortcuts and safety was the top priority. I will recommend this class to all of my friends, family and coworkers. Great class and see you in 2 years for the next renewal. All the best!

I recently took this class for my CCW. I chose the Online (Zoom) version. Josh was my instructor.

After signing up, there was some associated reading material available. This covered practical topics such as laws and restrictions, travel, and basic gun safety. This got us all on the same page, so when it was time for the online portion of the class he was able to answer questions on these topics and still cover all the important material. I found he was very skillful on redirecting discussions back to the topic and keeping the class moving. His background in Law Enforcement cuts past a lot of nonsense when he explains what the police are interested in and looking for. After the class, the website has some review materials and a written test I had to pass in order to proceed for qualification.

The qualification portion is done on a different day in small groups. This is where safety is front and center. He even moved my seat during field-stripping practice as there was too narrow of gap between students. He had us practice and then demonstrate 'safing' our guns (unlike Baldwin...) Before going to the firing line, he even gave us the phone number to call in case of an accident, and what to say. The qual itself is different for each CCW permit, and in my case anti-climactic.

California being an 'unfriendly' state makes a lot of this necessary if you want to carry and stay out of trouble. All in all, it was certainly worth it, and would recommend VIP-CCW classes to anyone.

Sadly, Los Angeles has become quite dangerous over the last few years & only safer then 9% of cities in this amazing country. (neighborhood scout).

I came across VIP CCW Services and I am glad I did. I took the Multi State CCW Class from them and now I have my Multi State CCW Permit.

I also took their Los Angeles CCW Permit Class and I now have my Los Angeles CCW Permit issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
I am very thankful to have taken my CCW (Carrying a Concealed Weapon) courses with one of the best instructors the USA has to offer. Safety was constantly emphasized in all of the courses and as a public figure discretion was of the utmost importance and am very thankful for having found such a wonderful instructor/company. Clearly it was not the instructor’s (Josh) first time training public figures.

The knowledge ascertained has me feeling extremely proficient and also comfortable with my firearm(s) and issued CCW permits.
Josh’s commitment to safety is top notch and he gives a very thorough and detailed safety brief which I really appreciated. He also is a LEO and he knows firearms laws, the dos and dont’s etc.
If you are interested in pursuing a constitutionally granted right and want to learn all of the intricate details of the law and firearms I can think of no better place to take a CCW course than at VIP CCW Services. I'd deem this course the "STANFORD" of firearm safety and knowledge in pursuit of ones legal permits.

Having just completed a course provided by VIP CCW Services, I have to echo all the positive remarks. Josh, being a LEO was extremely knowledgeable, patient and friendly and did his best to ensure everyone had full knowledge of the material as it was reviewed. He emphasized that safety is number one and took extra precautions to make sure everyone was safe during the class and continues to have the mindset even after completion. Definitely glad I went this route and looking forward to another class with Josh in the future.
