Selecting a micro red dot for a Shield (see other threads, not from me). There is a pretty wide variety out there with an equally wide difference in price. I'm looking at the middle tier of pricing. Who has actually installed one they loved or hated?
Current candidates: - Swampfox - Liberty - Bushnell RXS-250 - Crimson Trace CTS-1550 - Primary Arms Classic Series 24mm |

I can’t speak to mounting an optic on a shield as I went with the P365 and Holosun optic. However, I always review what I consider the premiere optics evaluation YouTube channel. Sage Dynamics may give you some insight.

I have had good luck with my Burris Fast Fire sight for the past 10 years.

I have the Swampfox Justice (bigger window Liberty) with the Ironsides shield for less than $250 OTD. So far so good! I love the crispness of the 3MOA dot and the clarity of the glass... _ |

I've used Burris Fastfire II, Vortex Venom and Holosun 407k. The burris is mounted as a secondary on an AR, the other two on pistols. Overall, I find the Holosun to be the best of the three though I haven't had any issues with either the Burris or the Vortex.

I have a Holosun 507k on my Shield and a Swampfox Sentinel on the Hellcat. With not a lot of rounds through both, the 507k is my favorite. The the green bullseye dot is super easy to pick up and way brighter than the Swampfox. Also at the range yesterday the glass broke on the Swampfox. Don’t know what happened, but I’ll be contacting them for warranty info. I am considering buying another 507k after it is sent off.

If I am seeing this video review properly YouTube some of the options co-witness with regular sites (or at least you can see the regular sites through the red dot glass:
- Crimson Trace - Shield RMSC - Holosun? While the SwampFox and Trijicon options have much thicker bases that require taller sights. Correct? |

I have glass Shield RMSc on my Shield, only recently installed on new optics ready slide, so far so good.
I like the size and always on feature, dot is fine too, it has auto brightness adjust and it works fine, but I am not sure how durable this RDS is.

For the Holosun, yes. I have this on my P365XL and use the rear sight notch on the Holosun to align with my front sight when I extend my arms and the dot is right there |

So I learned that the 507 "C" won't fit onto a small CCW pistol, but a 407 or 507 "K" will, the "K" is the smaller size footprint. The "C" has the solar panels and the curved top, while "K" has no solar panels and is boxier and not curved on top. So what would be the model number for a 407K green dot with the 2 MOA dot? Holosun seems to make literally dozens of models and variants and often when listed on websites, the vendor doesn't list whether a model has the 2 MOA or 6 MOA green dot. I don't see any indication in the model numbers and MOA dot size on the 407 models, pretty confusing.

They make a 2 moa in red dot, not sure about green?

The 2 moa reticles are available in green or red if you get the multi reticle models which allows you to choose between the circle and dot, just the circle or just the dot. The center dot is 2 moa. If you need that on the K footprint, you'll need to purchase either the two 507 K models or one of the EPS models.

So before all the glowing Holosun reviews came in, I became enthralled by the ultra-low profile and co-witnessing with standard sights of the SightMark and Crimson Trace models. S&W uses a Crimson Trace in their video showing off the optics-ready slide. Between the two, the aluminum construction of the SightMark seemed the best bet. It arrived today and is already going back. It may have been a bad unit or damaged in transit, but the dot optics were really poor. With a dot in the middle, there was a red streak across the top left of the optic glass. Hold it wrong and there were 2 dots (two people checked it out, same for both).
The construction looked good and I was pretty optimistic when I opened the box, but it never went on the gun. Like I said, could have been a bad or damaged unit. Now I'm looking at the Holosun EPS units, I had only seen the "K" versions before. A bunch more $$ and I don't care for the very square look, but having a dot that works is the important part. More to follow... |

Have a Holosun 507K on my 43x and Trijicon RMRs on my g19 and Sig 1911. I like buying American made, but the ability to change the battery without removing the sight and the choice of 68 moa circle with 3 moa dot, dot or just circle make the Halosun preferred to me.
Looking at the Eotech EFLX, but still only has choice of 3moa or 6moa dot, no circle/dot. Price for former military is attractive at under $300, but I’d have to change my mounts to fit the non-RMR footprint. |

I have the Holosun micro 2 moa mounted to the rear of my Shield, it fit where the old sight sat. I paid $300 for it and $175 for the milling at Gunfighter Tactical while I waited. S&W sells a replacement slide cut for it in front of the rear site that can remain for around $250. I like it mounted further back, more accurate and it clears holsters better.

I've got the Holosun 507K green, on my SIG 365.
I had the red, and loved it, but as I'm getting older (>60), and have astigmatism, someone recommended the green, and it's amazing. I got it from Simmons Sporting Goods in December for ~$250 OTD, you have to email them for pricing. I also got the 507C for my G19, super. Took both to the range last week, I'm so impressed with them. Last edited by Irvine; 02-23-2023 at 8:55 PM.. Reason: typo |

I went with the 507k . It works really well.
I have a shield 1.0 that I wanted to mount a red dot to. I didn't want to mill my factory slide, so I found a .40 complete slide on eBay and I was going to mill that and get a conversion barrel. But while the .40 slide was shipping, I found a complete 9mm shield plus slide on eBay that is already milled, and I bought that. Now I have 3 complete slides for my shield and can go OEM 9mm, .40, or 9mm with red dot. The shield plus slide came with night sights I was going to either have to file the rear lugs of the shield to get the holosun to fit, or use an adapter plate. I went with the CH precision plate that raises the red dot slightly to make the rear lugs work. I had trouble finding on of the shelf holster for a shield with a red dot and a light so I had a custom one made by DARA. It's a quality holster and I have bought several other custom holsters from them as a result. . ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my Pixel 4 XL using Tapatalk Last edited by jessdigs; 02-25-2023 at 1:29 AM.. |

Now that Holosun offers the 507k with acss Vulcan reticle I’m putting that on my edc Sig 365x in green.
The red 507k that’s on there now will be installed on the Taurus TX22 compact I have on order.

I have the Holosun 507k on a shield, hellcat and glock 19. Cant beat that 32 moa circle with a 2 moa dot in the middle. The big circle gives you fast acquisition and the dot is perfect for farther distance. The best part I haven't seen mentioned is the battery on the side. Makes for fast easy changes without removal of the sight and adaptor plate and then rezero.

I know a lot of people know this already, but Vulcan ACSS is a feature and not present on all Holosun models. From what I've seen in stores (like Turners) those don't have the Vulcan ACSS 32 MOA ring. From the advertisements, it seems like the ones that have the feature are marketed as Primary Arms/Holosun models.
To me I think it's an awesome feature that helps find the dot if the gun is held way off, but not everyone getting a Holosun optic may be getting this feature.

I’ve had a Holosun 507k on my P365 for well over a year now. In that time I’ve bumped it against countless door frames walking through. I’ve also dropped my pistol twice and it’s landed on the Holosun. It has cosmetic rash but still held zero and functioned flawlessly afterwards. If you can get over the fact it’s made overseas then I think it’s one of the best choices you can make.
