I only have one and it's a Model 48 RWS.
It will do, with ease, what you want to do.
Put a good scope on it and you will have no more tree rats.
Comes out to a little more than you want to spend, but it will be a solid set-up.

Any 22 cal break rifle will take rats. Big 5 on sale sometimes 60-70 bucks.

You can find a Brennan R9 in .177 for around $250, then find an airgun scope that will stand up to the springer recoil.

I know that scope says it’s designed to work with air rifles. But I could not find any mention about springers. Seems like they would mention the glass being supported from 2 way recoil if it was.

I’d want specific clarification from Nikon before I put that scope on a springer.

RWS makes really nice air rifles. So great choice there. Many a squirrel has fallen to my 34.

I suppose contacting Nikon for clarification would get you an answer, but, certainly Nikon is aware of springer air rifles and I would think would put a disclaimer of do not use on springer air rifles if they were detrimental to the scope.
Nikon does have a lifetime warranty.

I hear you. Maybe scope design has changed, but ???

They refer to the reticles being fine. OK, that's good for small targets. But that's all I see as airgun specific.

Just suggesting caution when buying a scope for a springer. When I buy any scope, I really like to mount it only one time.

Gamo whisper fusion elite. Sometimes they sell factory refurbs for $79 with a scope. Have it in .177 and can put 20 pellets through the size of a quarter at 50yds. Extremely quiet as well. It's a break barrel that uses inert gas technology instead of a piston. Much easier to cock the rifle. Great value

Suppressed Gamo. Especially if you use it near your house. Any good optic should be fine. You want the quietest gun available. 177 cal will be enough for any vermin.

Just a heads up that the springers' action noise is equal to the muzzle noise which doubles the sound.
The gas piston guns get rid of most of the action noise and are much quieter overall.
The Benjamin NPs are a great value.
Do get a one piece scope mount to avoid loosening scopes and wandering zeros, separate rings always come loose.
Something like this:

The scope supplied on the Beeman R9 elite pkg is a Bushnell 3X9X40 AO scope that goes down to 10 yds parallax. It can be had for about 120-140 dollars. I have an R9 as well as a few more Beemans and all are solid rifles. Gamo and other cheaper models are fine also, but build quality on Beeman/Weirauch, Air Arms, RWS, etc are more to firearm quality workmanship standards. I had a Gamo CFX that hit hard, but would not hold zero with open or optic sights. Twangy, buzzy thing out of the box, and stiff trigger to boot.
