The CS Drop Forged knives are 52100... or as BUSSE calls it, SR-101 (with their heat treatment)

I'll post one I do not recommend... I finally tried a KABAR (non-Becker)

Impressive on paper and in pics... not a fan of the black coat (paint) they use and the steel is really thin. On a knife without a full tang it makes it feel fragile IMHO. maybe I am used to SYKCO, BUSSE, SWAMP RAT... but this knife doesn't feel rugged. I wanted a stacked leather handle, etc... but this one is being returned. For $90 it seems like a deal, but in person a 9"+ blade should be thicker especially with a rat tail tang. Doesn't seem like the KABAR name should be on it, but maybe the KABAR name isn't what I thought. That $60 Cold Steel is a HELL of a lot more knife.

Benchmade Vector. I wanted a knife that would open easily with one hand.

Microtech Exocet. Mexifornia legal OTF blade.

Discrete as a money clip but ready to eviscerate a human at a moment’s notice.

Thanks.

I had a few of these before and downsized them. Couldn't pass up a couple of new ones shipped at less than initial offering price. Now if I could find a Alpha Regulator...

Latest purchase was the CRKT RMJ Utsidihi. Took these pix over a few weeks of initial ownership. It's an excellent lightweight fixed blade design by Ryan Johnson of RMJ-Tactical that is unfortunately held back by the just barely adequate Chinese 8Cr13MoV stainless steel - wish they had chosen to us D2 instead.

Sheath system is solid and the balance of this blade in hand is terrific. The grind is a bit thick for strength and durability so its not a great paper slicer, but it will surprisingly shred cardboard boxes quickly and efficiently and it makes one heck of an effective self-defense or backup blade.

CRKT ships it with gutted paracord which felt a bit too thin in my hand. I wrapped it with actual 550 paracord, and although I think it looked pretty nice, I ultimately ended up running cotton wrap where I could build up the feel in hand as I liked. Doesn't look as good, but looks aren't everything.

Anyhow, its a great way to try out an excellent Ryan Johnson design on the cheap - under $50 vs. $199 for his USA-made version which is essentially unobtaniun. Nice overall blade!

Specifications

  • Blade Length 3.514" (89.26 mm)
  • Blade Edge Plain Edge
  • Blade Steel 8Cr13MoV
  • Blade Finish Stonewash
  • Blade Thickness 0.159" (4.04 mm)
  • Overall Length 7.813" (198.45 mm)
  • Weight 3.2 oz. (90.72g)
  • Handle Nylon Cord Wrap
  • Style Fixed Blade Knife w/Sheath

Start with the two stickies in Blades, Bows, and Tools on Calguns maybe.

You can’t miss them. Good info.

I've been on a knife buying binge these past 4 months. It's really my new hobby.

Latest purchase was a Socom Elite Tanto Manual.

A week before that a Reate Horizon D. Love them both!!

Recommend snagging one. Make sure you get the full micarta as many of them come half micarta, half skeletonized with 550 cord. (Unless you like that)

I like it. It is gorgeous in the comp finish. Huge slab of SR-101... I thought the old .27 Mountainmandu was thick... this is .35 and Totally different than the normal Ratweilers, especially the thin cut - mostly because it weighs as much as a boat anchor. I hope the hollow grind means it will still go through anything (supposedly it is Flat, Hollow, & Convex). I guess I will try to modify a SPEC-OPS sheath insert to get this thing covered.

It was so close in dimension, beside the thickness to my Urgent Fury that I passed on it but I sure do like it. And you got yours exactly how I would have.

Caught the knife bug last week after I lost my full size Griptillian. Ended up getting a replacement (have been EDC'ing them for almost 10 years now) and trying out Esee fixed blades as well. Starting to enjoy the Esee's over my Benchmades...

Currently looking into a Chris Reeve Sebenza 31 or a used plain 21. Hard to pull the trigger on something that I will definitely use and beat up on when I already do the same with others that are a third of the cost (and I'm currently happy with).

Oh yeah, that's a nice blade. The Green and black G10 looks great.

They have the Wardens out right now. That's an interesting little knife with the same thickness.

I think I have a problem. Fourth knife purchased in 2 weeks!

Might be an obvious answer but what’s the purpose of the little piece of parachord on the end of the sheath? To lash it onto something? Doesn’t seem too sturdy if so...? Thanks!

Last night I bought a NIB Benchmade 495 Vector off ebay. Guaranteed delivery by 3/30. I'm looking for another similar model that is flip assisted and can be opened easily with one hand.
