I'm terrible at pics right now.
I need to set up a better thing. going to try this weekend and I'll take new pics and edit this

got the TRUGLO night sights installed by "evans gunsmithing" in orange. was done the same day i dropped it off!!!

Lighting here sucks. Should have bumped it up on the camera for the exposure.

This one came out better. But the focus sucked.

I need more lighting and read that thread on the main thread.

You basically color them in with crayon, nail polish, grease pen, whatever. Pretty popular with Glock and AR-15s.

Here's one of many many threads out there on the topic:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=405262

If you search for coloring roll marks, coloring ar-15s, coloring Glocks, and any and every combination of the above...you should find some more threads! You should also be able to search for YouTube videos and see other people do it, if you need that confidence before attacking your slide with a crayon.

I just signed up for CalGuns so this is my first experience. Just purchased a Springfield XD 9mm Tactical kit and like it so far but just getting into it. I heard many good things about the S&W M&P 9mm and .40 and tried to get a Range and Carry kit but got a run around from the reps at S&W. The local GUN SHOP in Lancaster (CA) couldn't locate a kit so I contacted S&W customer service. First they told me a SKU number that was supposed to be CA legal but the dealer couldn't find one so I contacted S&W again and was told by a different rep that the SKU quoted to me was only for MA, then I had to contact him again to see if a kit was actually available for CA. Supposedly the final word is that there is NO KIT AVAILABLE for CA at this time. Seems to me that S&W is missing a good number of sales by not making the 10 round CA version of the M&P available as a Carry & Range kit for CA. Any thoughts on this?

Unhappy M&P Range & Carry Kit for .40 or 9mm

If anyone out there has been looking for the S&W M&P Range and Carry Kit for the 9mm or .40 (like me), the word I finally got from S&W customer service is that they don't have one that is California legal. If anyone knows how to get around this for a CA legal 10 round version please let me know. I thought about just getting the R&C Kit case but haven't been able to get any info on it's availability. S&W reps must be very busy 'cause they make VERY SHORT replies to info requests.

The pistol is the same as other standard M&P. It comes with kydex holster, double mag carrier, UpLULA loader, crappy ear pro, and 3 magazines (compared to 2).

Basically, you can buy all the accessories you get in the "Range & Carry" kit separately with the ability to pick and choose what you want. I wouldn't consider it a deal breaker...and it's definitely not worth the hassle to do single shot exemption on the Range and Carry kit if all you're getting is accessories.

^^^ that's what I thought...

I always buy an extra mag with every pistol I get anyway... I use Blackhawk CQC holster and use a four pistol case... speed loaders take longer than using fingers (for me) and you can always buy mag holsters... the kit wouldn't be necessary for my application and I agree, shouldn't be a deal breaker for anyone looking for an M&P.

Default Handy to have the case

I agree with you guys that it is not a deal breaker but it would be handy to have the larger case. I also understand that the $609 price saves some bucks over the cost of buying the extra mag and other items separately. I will probably go ahead and buy the M&P in a few weeks in any case.

check out grabagun.com: http://grabagun.com/handguns/semi-au...ufacturer=2530

They are a vendor here and have the best pricing I have found... great customer service and quick shipping...

You can pick up the gun, and extra mag and still have plenty of funds left over for the other stuff you want.

Does anyone know if I am able to get the M&P9JG in California? My wife would love to have this gun. I have checked the DOJ safe gun list, but this one (checked SKU and everything) is not on the list. THe only difference to the M&P9 is that it has a pink backstrap and the breast cancer ribbon engraved on the slide. Does anyone know?

Get one single shot exempted. Or order the slide from Smith and Wesson, and put it on an M&P frame.

Question Haven't seen this version

I know that the standard M&P9 is available here (California 10 round mags) but I have not seen a version with a pink backstrap. There is no mention of this version on the S&W website. Could this be something that was generated outside of the factory?

I followed your link and see the problem. The version you have the SKU for is a 17+1 round model and that is not legal in California. Maybe you could contact S&W customer service and see if the standard M&P9 (CA version) can be ordered with the pink grips or if the pink grips can be ordered separately from their parts dept and installed on the M&P9.

That is absolutely sick!

I'm not a huge fan of stippling poly guns, but I'd get that done to my M&P in a heartbeat.

Outstanding quality.

It's really easy to do. You can either use half of a Bic Clicky Pen spring, or buy one suited for replacement found here:

There's some happiness in there...I know it .

BTW, did you ever get around to changing out your Dawsons? I ended up buying those Hi-viz sights. They are MUCH lower profile, look to be pretty sturdy, although not as nicely finished as the Dawsons. I plan on heading down to your part of the bay to have my sights changed. Nobody does sight changes around here(Oakland) that I'm aware of, so it's probably back to Valkerie, unless I can find someone else to do it.

Nope, haven't got around to looking for replacement sights yet...been wasting money on other things, lol. I haven't even been shooting in a dreadful 3 weeks!

One of these days we should meet half way or something, I would love to see what those Hi-viz sights are like. Regarding sight installation, I probably would not have Valkyrie take on the work. They seem to always have their hands busy taking care of the bigger things. So I don't know if you remember this but Reeds Indoor Range did mine. They did a decent job and I would go back if I had to. If I were you though, i'd check out US Firearms Co. in Sunnyvale. They are a relatively new shop, but they seem to really spend the time to take care of their customers. I've heard the people at US Firearms are actually some former Reeds employees. I'm definitely going there next time to get sights installed just based on what I've heard.

Man, I feel you. The only reason it hasn't been longer for me is that I shot my 9c the same day I picked it up at Targetmasters.

I also just bought a Galco King Tuk holster for my M&P's, just for kicks. I don't plan on breaking the law, but I do plan on using it mainly for practice for when I do get my CCW(if ever permitted), or begin to use it at the range when permitted. I don't have to conceal it, I'm sure I can wear it, and tuck my shirt behind the holster if I'm at a range that allows the open use of holsers. The main reason I even use a holster is when I do the steel shoots at the Davis range in SL. I guess I should also invest in some actual training as well.

We should definitely meet up. I can make the trip down to Reeds sometime. I like going to new places, and I hate feeling confined to a couple local ranges. I may get down there next weekend and have the sights installed. I do remember you mentioning them. I almost bought my 9c from them, but they wanted 40 more bucks for it.

I guess I can stop by US Firearms Co. before I go to Reeds. I'll have to find out what their prices/timeframes are like.

On another (-) note, I think I scratched the hell out of my 9fs practicing my draw with my Blackhawk CQC Serpa. It has a long, deep scratch on the right side of the front sight dovetail. I have no idea how it actually happened, I can't see plastic causing this. I'll post a pic, but I don't have any other idea why the scratch is so uniform(straight line) and deep other than holstering/drawing, but there's nothing wrong with the holster. I'll post a pic of that too...

I know I didn't drop it, bang it on something hard nor could it have happened in the plastic case it sits in. The scratch looks like it was caused in a downward motion, which leads me to think there may have been an obstruction inside my holster, that was dislodged when it was first inserted, but also scratched the heck out of the slide.

I hope it's not a hairline crack or something worse.

Apex FSS kit on my new .45. Warren Sevigny tritium sights (i'm partial to them) I also cut a notch on the trigger guard for better indexing and made a slight relief around where your index finger sits on your trigger finger for comfort. I then proceeded to stipple the $h!t out of the rest of the gun. Future plans are a mag well cut out in case spent mag gets stuck and i need a bit more leverage to remove it.

BTW the APEX trigger is the cats meow, the bees knees etc.

I also just bought a Galco King Tuk holster for my M&P's, just for kicks. I don't plan on breaking the law, but I do plan on using it mainly for practice for when I do get my CCW(if ever permitted), or begin to use it at the range when permitted. You should call up US Firearms Co. for a quote on cost to install sights:

Hahaha, the more holsters the better! I love being able to run in a holster when taking training classes. So far my Garrett holster has worked really well for me, and hasn't damaged my gun since it's kydex/leather lined.

Shoot me a PM or something next time you think you're in the area and I'll try and meet up at Reeds. Give me like a few days notice though, I went to Reeds today and just shot off all the FMJ I have. I need to restock....

Need some ideas here. A buddy of mine picked up a used M&P off gunbroker. Took it out with a box of winchester white box. Nothing but problems. Fail to fire, fail to eject. Everybody here says it is a great rig, review online say the samething. Should he send it back to Smith and have them re-work it? Is a bad egg? Ideas?? Let me know if you need more information. On a side note, I was looking at those hard since you can adjust the grip size and was thinking of one for the wife. Thanks in advance.

Has he broken the gun down and cleaned/inspected/lubed the parts before taking it out to fire? Does the gun show heavy signs of use? Some say that after like 5000-7500 rounds, it's time to replace the recoil spring as well, something worth thinking about.

I just fed Winchester whitebox to my M&P9 yesterday, it ate all 100 rounds with zero problems.

I've never had a problem with WWB.

I'd say send it in.

Send it in, S&W revised both the extractor and striker to keep this from happening.
