Default New Jersey Governor and Smart Gun Technology

The one bill signed today by Governor Murphy of New Jersey is making the headlines; but, he actually signed four. The one making the headlines is related to 'smart gun' technology...

Quote:
...The measure sets up a commission to approve smart guns, which are personalized firearms that can be fired only by authorized users. The measure also repeals part of a 2002 law that was blamed for the slow pace of getting smart guns to market.

The new measure also requires that retailers offer a personalized gun for sale as they become available.

Murphy said he is confident the new law will succeed because it will allow research and development on smart guns to go forward, unlike prior law...
With the 9th Circuit already deferring to the California Legislature on microstamping, how long before the California Legislature pushes through a bill which demands the development of smart gun technology and once that technology is deemed 'available,' the roster is further reduced to include only 'smart guns?' After all, California simply can't allow New Jersey to 'best' it when it comes to public safety laws. Right?

I just wonder how a state can mandate that somebody must offer for sale x item. Seems like I should be able to only offer what I want for sale in my own store.

start with the police since statistically most cops are shot with their own gun

Start with the cops and the armed state government employees first.

We first need a requirement that only smart people run for office.

52 officers killed with guns in 2018. 4 of them by their own weapon.

California doesn’t need to play that card, at least not yet, as microstamping is already working quite well for them as a ban on all new semi-autos.

Although true, you would have to look at being shot by your own gun, not killed by it.

Red face

When are we EVER going to get "smart politician" technology?!

Our nation is completely run by imbeciles these days, and in the case of democraps, they'd need to gain 100 IQ points, to move UP to, "imbecile."

Skip the smart gun crap and go straight to smart bullet. It will zig and zag and only hit its intended target. You of course have to program it first. Next time you need a gun for protection you have to call "time out" and hope the bad guys let you have a few hours to reprogram the smart ammo.

+2 with the notion of Smart Politician Laws.

SAT scores are required for college admission.

Why not have IQ laws for leaders? Smart Leader Laws for both NJ and Cali. Vote Yes, or Noo...

YES!

However, this could be determined to be unconstitutional as it would effectively eliminate 99% of democratic candidates from eligibility to hold any office.

Since it's usually guns stolen from LE cars that kill innocents; I'd have to agree that that's where "progress" should start - but perhaps more importantly with the people specifically tasked with protecting stupid politicians.
What could possibly go wrong?

No one should ever enter New Jersey. That is hostile foreign territory. Same with New York.

CA roster case in on hold in 9th pending the outcome of the SCOTUS NY case that has been granted cert, which is widely expected to be a break-through ruling for 2A.

Smart gun mandates and laws are late to the party and can only do more damage to the anti-gun cause. While NY is trying to moot the case by repealing anti-gun transportation laws, NJ doesn't even get it and is working for us.

This is not bad news at all.
