Default RMR slide cut for 1911

Exploring the possibility of an RMR cut on a 1911 government length side with Novak rear sight cut. Any suggestions?

Need more info.. you want to have your current slide cut? You want to buy a slide that is already cut for a RMR? You want info on what mounts you’ll need?

They make a mount to fit into the dovetail that you can attach a red dot too

It’s higher than milking the slide- but they are $50 or less to see if you like a red dot on the firearm.

I’ll be using a SS Fusion slide, government length with Novak rear sight cut. Will likely request a cut for a trijicon CA428-C-600757 RMR mount an integrated rear sight. Don’t know which Trijicon RMR I’ll use yet.

Height over bore is significantly higher. If I’m going to do it, I’ll do it right the first time rather make make a half hearted attempt.

Why not mount on the frame, like they've been doing red dots for 40 years?

Again, height over bore is an issue. I’m not interested in a competition or race gun. This is primarily for a carry gun. If I can adjust and like the set up, I’ll modify one of my CCO guns. No offense, but just because we’ve done something for 40 years, doesn’t mean we can’t do better with technology that wasn’t available back then.

In that case you probably want a Trijicon RMR mount that will have an integrated iron rear sight and it comes with a tall front sight as well.

Here is the mount and front sight on mine

I used an Ed Brown slide that is already pre-cut for the trijicon RMR mount.

Here is the mount:

Not a cheap setup, but make sure to compare to how much the work will cost of cutting your slide.

Here is the gun with the RMR

I know Brett Cifaldi cut someone's slide for the RMR mount as well. So he could definitely do it. He is a member here and has a Misc 1911 Smithing thread in Handguns section where you can see his work.

Here is the link to Brett's work showing he did the RMR mount cut.
