Default Slings, permanent or QDs?

So, I want to buy a sling for my AR15 that uses a Magpul STR stock. The STR has two slots for the sling webbing and a couple QD points.

I'm trying to figure out if I should have the sling permanently attached to the rifle or use QDs at both ends?

My recommendo would be QD. $20 or so for the convenience.

Having it 'fixed' on an rifle that can separate (for transport, cleaning, etc.) would be annoying.

My personal preference is QD. You can swap slings out pretty quick. Plus you can remove it quick when you clean your rifle.

Default QD

I also use QD.
I was a little nervous about them disconnecting accidentally bumping on my gear. I've never had one disconnect without my manipulation though, thus far.

ALL mine are QD or HK clip, save for my SPR. With the bipod, the sling on that one is set up primarily to "tote it" with.

QD.

And I epoxied extra sockets into the stock for different configurations.

QD

I use them on all rifles to standardize sling operation and cut down on the number of slings overall.

I use Grov Tec push button base to stud adapters for older rifles.

Thanks. Going the QD route. Went with VTAC MK2 gen II slings and Magpul hardware.

Definitely QD. It's nice to be able to easily remove the sling entirely for transport or if you want to bench shoot, etc.

There are also some slings on the market that can easily convert between one point and two point. It's really nice to have options. Savy Sniper is one of them.

The bad part about QD release is the ball bearing eventually fall out resulting in your **** hitting the deck. This goes for the high end QDs also a quick Google search can verify this.

When you get a bunch of weapons in a gun safe that all have slings, it makes a mess. QD styles let you keep the slings elsewhere, and not clog up storage in your safe. You could use magnetic hooks on the outside to hang them on.

QD.
There are just no drawbacks for having one.

Well there is added cost, bulk, weight, maybe noise. Many people use 550 cord loops to attach slings for some of these reasons. Israelis, that “ Let it Do” guy and many Vietnam GIs for example.
I use both because some guns I want no swivels.

QD, but make sure they mate properly to your sockets. I have seen many lower quality and some name brand models fail. That sound when rifles take a dump is heart wrenching, but funny since the person has to do push-ups after.
