Default New here. Looking to go to Panoche, questions about guns.

Hello all, it's great to be in a community of fellow Californians that support the right to self defense. I am from the Bay Area where it's apparently not possible to get a concealed carry permit, I got 2 questions.

1. Has anyone here been to Panoche? I am researching some scorpions and want to check out the area along panoche road, a few miles off highway 5. Is it accessible with a regular car? Is camping there allowed? Any other tips?

2. How can I bring a gun for self defense while I'm out there? Aside from wild animals, with it being a remote place, I have heard some stories of crazies out there. Is it legal to have a loaded gun on you there without having a concealed carry permit?

Thanks!

Panoche is closed for the season due to fire concern, but will open back up in October. I understand you can walk in, but that's a long hump to do some shooting.

as far as I know, no restrictions on loaded open carry while on BLM or NF.

You can drive in with a car but the roads are pretty rough. Iíve gone with my 07 2wd GMC Sierra when muddy and gone with my 2012 Honda Accord but just gotta watch the road and follow the flattest parts. Once you enter, itís just a dirt/somewhat paved road. You can drive and find a spot to park your car to explore the area . Itís super hot right now..... afternoon is 100+. Seen a bunch of wildlife but never recalled seeing any scorpions.
