Default Triple dipping?

Does anyone have experience with multiple public saftey retirement systems?

Specifically could someone do, say, 15 years at a PERS agency, 15 years in one 37 Act agency, and then work and, eventually draw retirement from, a different 37 Act agency?

Will any of the retirement systems conflict and prevent someone from working from actively drawing retirement?

I know someone that retired from the Marines (30+ years), went to work for the U.S. Marshals and retired (10 years). Then became a correctional officer for 15 years and retired.

I know of an individual who took a stress retirement from a major LE agency, then got hired by another one and ended up with two retirements. They were in different systems. Don't ask me how he got past background on the second one.

I also used to work with people who retired from my agency, then went to work for a state agency working on a second retirement.

Yes, I am retired from a PERS department and a 37 act department. I don't see any reason why you could not retire from yet another 37 act system.

At some point you just gotta retire for good. Not in your 60s.....

I understand that as long as you work for the different retirement system agency, you are okay.

Some CDCR CO left the state at 50 and now working as a Sheriff Security Officer for Sac County. It can be done. Thats only a double dip, but it can be done.

I know of someone who looks like she is going to triple dip from CDCR, LASD, and LACO Probation and IMnshO, the C--T doesn't deserve a single high-level retirement, much less three! >:|

Well, LASD and LA Co Probation are in the same retirement system, LACERA, so that is only a single dip. I’m not sure what that last agency is that you listed.

If you retire from Classic PERs then you are limited to 960 Hours per year with a Classic PERs employment. So go to a different retirement like a County employer.
