Treasure Valley Expats, who wants to have a meet-up at a local burger/pizza place??
So anybody up for trying to get together and having a burger/pizza or something similar sometime? Have a beer or Iced tea over some food, and enjoy a few stories and BS a bit?
I've met a few of you already, and some folks like Hanko who I've met a handful of times who has lived here for 30 years now. Always up for meeting up, but this time a year is always a bit busy. Maybe a Sat/Sun sometime. If you're up for it, let me know here, and maybe copy and paste the "I'm In" list and I'll put it together who is going and we can decide where. SO, if you're in, write it out and copy and paste the list, then put where you'd like to go if you have a preference. |

We can schedule it whenever. Even if it means trying to do it sometime in January maybe do an ultra cold-weather shoot. |

"I'm in". cold -weather shoot is ok, but I'm still working on "layering" to provide for a good draw. I could stoop to bringing a rifle. Only Wednesdays don't work (11am steel challenge match)

Been kind of a topsy turvy last couple months for me, but I'm definitely still wanting to do this sometime. Enriques dollar tacos and some good Cerveza sounds pretty good right now. BTW, the Lengua tacos are some of the best you'll try. |

The absolute best calamari we've eaten was at Barbara's Fish Trap in Princeton, just north of Half Moon Bay, CA...fresh off the boat the same day.
Given it's Kuna, Enrique's is ok. I don't order fish on an Idaho menu unless it's from Fresh Off the Hook, or a bit spendy like Ruth Chris, Chandlers, etc. OK for birthdays or anniversary, but around here it's either Enrique's or Thailand Express in Nampa. In the SF Bay area, we found best asian food on Clement street between maybe 12th and 14th...heavy asian neighborhood where if the food ain't great, your shut down in a week or 2. Thailand Express in Nampa is not fancy, but ultra clean with an experienced Thai chef and servers...as good as we got in SF, and about a 15 minute drive from the house. Thailand Express Nampa See above. We were spoiled by fresh fish and crab...5 minutes from the house to the pier.

Oh man, if you haven't been, check out "Little Saigon" viet namese food. It is SOOOOO good. They have fresh, clean food that is ALWAYS good. The pickled vegetables are the best I've ever eaten, the curry bowls are just insane. I go there with my sister two or three times EVERY time she visits because she likes it so much, and she's from California and knows good thai food. It's a cross of thai/viet namese food really. We need to head there for lunch sometime just to get out of the house after making hay or something. https://www.facebook.com/littlesaigonnampa/ Last edited by bombadillo; 01-04-2020 at 7:10 PM.. |

Get on hwy 45 aka 12th avenue toward Nampa. Go through the light at Greenhurst and be in the left lane. You'll see Chepala's (sp?) on your left and make a left turn there. Thai place will be in the parking lot on your right, next to a bend-over loan place. They'll take your reservation but the longest we've waited to sit down was 5 minutes without a res.

Since we're talking about best food, I love the burgers at Main Street burger in Meridian. If that place were closer I'd probably weigh 30lb more than I do. In Boise I like Fork.. a lot and I also like Eureka which is next door to it. The best meal I've ever had in my life was at Barbacoa. My boss flies in from NY to have a 1 on 1 meeting there every year I suggest the martini served in a solid ice glass and for an entree the rock filet medium rare with lobster tail kicker. Of course it helps when my boss picks up the tab. |

Oh dear lord that sounds amazing!!!! I LOVE Fork, they have the best $10.00 burger I've had in awhile. I'm LOVING Delsas in the summertime for burgers, a malt, and some home fries. The owners and employees are great, and the food is just good old fashioned stuff that I like. I've heard about Barbacoa, and between there and Ruths Chris, I'm not sure which is better. I'm gonna try one of them soon though. Tucanos is a pretty good deal if you want a LOT of decent brazilian meat and the pineapple is to die for. |

Texas roadhouse in Meridian, option to visit Sportsman's warehouse that shares a parking lot?
Cheesecake factory / lots of others in Town Square Mall area, option to visit Cabelas across Franklin? Edit to add: Red Robin or Olive Garden in the Nampa Treasure Valley mall near Midway off the interstate, option to visit Sportsman's warehouse in the same mall? Last edited by Rotnguns; 01-29-2020 at 10:56 AM.. Reason: forgot to add Nampa places |

I've never eaten at a Red Robin, and I'd AVOID Olive Garden as it's not even close to Italian food.

And as long as I'm at it, I like Sully's Pub and Grill in Star. Might be a bit out of the way for some folks, but they have pretty decent food, good beer on tap, and indoor/outdoor seating. A couple of the waitresses are pretty cute, too.

All right, just saw this again and I have to get something figured out. I'll start shooting out some private messages here soon and try to get a place to meet up that works for most folks. You guys prefer going to a chain or going somewhere like an Enrique's?
I'm up to meet up anywhere I don't really care if it's a chain or not truthfully but I'll let you guys shout out what you prefer. |

Not a true cali expat, but would be great to meet you all. I chose the chain places in my earlier post, because they are all close to gun stores.
There are some large places like 10 barrel, etc. in downtown boise that I did not see mentioned. Brick 29 and enriques are great choices for the west part of the valley also. |

If you wouldn't mind putting your name on this list as soon as I'm done, I'll start with me. If you could copy and paste your name on this list so we can figure out how many of us are going and it'll give me an idea on where to set up shop. I'll start with me, I'm going.

Anything ever happen? If not, let's figure something out now that the Pandemic has waned. I'm flexible save for Monday and Wednesday afternoons (Nampa Steel Challenge matches).

Judging from past history on this thread, I suggest that you declare a place and time and see who can make it. That being said, there is going to be a big gun show at the Ford Center in Nampa in June, maybe plan around that?
