Yup. And heard that it wasn't even someone at work testing positive, but only that someone at the office had been _exposed_ to someone who tested positive.

200-300 people sent home. I swear, the leftist/woke leadership are scared of their own shadows!

Sounds like my last employer.

Ok for triple jabbed person to get sick and cost the company hundreds of thousands of dollars to hault production, but would be the end of the world if I tested positive because I came in contact with someone.

Covidicy is real

Many probably don't. I've got many at my work like this.

One guy when he does come in he does so after hours, but on the rare instance he comes in during the day it is for as short as possible. Of course he literally is wearing double masks, safety glasses, face shield over that, and rubber gloves.

He says all that is to protect himself from getting his father sick, even though both he and his father are vaxxed and boosted. Unfortunately he's having to tend to his father now at the hospital, because he suddenly and unexpectedly came down with a serious heart condition. But keep getting that safe and effective vax though.

There are clinics here in Salt Lake that dedicate treatment for the OCD.

These are the people driving around by themselves with a mask on - or wearing it while riding a motorcycle.

Not sure if you've been to the Bay Area; but here, almost everybody still goes out masked. Grocery stores, the mall, outside at parks ... everywhere.

Was told today that Monday things will open up 100%.
- One week company says "Panic, go home!" when there's a case
- Next week they say "Screw it - everyone back to work!!"

Will find out soon enough

I think they're figuring out that everyone else has opened, and being in TX they're waaaaaaay behind the curve. The relevant company leadership resides in New York, that likely explains the thinking

So now you don't need the jab?

Man I see very very few people wearing masks or doing anything covid related. School functions, stores, etc. Its pretty much back to "normal" for everything. Even the employees at fast food places arent wearing masks.

So I guess the "good news" was false. Actually the center closed for a week - now they're just opening again after scattering like roaches.

Still have the restrictive vax mandate. (I'm not fired or force-vaxxed, but I must remain WFH while the rest are back in the office.)

Update from HR:
- Unvaxxed (and those who chose not to disclose their health status) still 100% excluded
- Badges disabled
- Any complaints considered "local noise" and does not move the needle on their decision
- "The Pandemic is NOT over!!"

So I'm still 100% WFH

Have you considered looking around for other places to work? I'd be fine with working from home, but you might be able to find some place you like more.

Actually a dumb idea. HR has become adept at sleuthing out incorrect date/vaccine lot info and now it becomes an employee termination event.

Do the majority of employees support the mandate?
Even though Texas, may be the reason management is dead set on it.

What's wrong with working from home? I work from home full time now and I love it. I save on gas, save on commute time (time is expensive), I can take short naps if I'm tired, I can do some quick chores around the house, and best of all, I don't have to see other people

Its nice, but sometimes seeing your co-workers (that you like) and getting out of the house is nice. This just shows most jobs could go to a split schedule, a 2/3 split.

It's the best. I don't understand people who desire to see their coworkers. I'd rather see my friends.

^^ Exactly

I only dream of WFH. I'd save hundreds of dollars in fuel costs, wouldn't have to deal with all the traffic and morons on the road, and I could roll out of bed in my boxers and never put on pants. Oh well, maybe one day...

Apparently so. Tech workers tend to be imported from CA or they're just otherwise liberal-leaning to begin with. Even my staunchest 'conservative' friends have been Vaxxed ("I wanted to go back to CA to see my family, didn't want to get hassled...")

Got a big fat email today saying restrictions to be lifted! Back to work by the end of June.

The timing is good. My wife is about to get a 100% WFH job, I'll need a place to escape

Well yes and no. I like WFH and don't plan to go to the office more than 1x/week just to get some 'face time' with the boss. What I really want to do is travel, normally go to Europe 4x/year.

What are the odds Beto wins in today’s climate? Abbott remaining in low profile.
The House and Senate now goes left.
Masks and vax (not to mention gun control) enforced in all states.
Terrifying.

Oh I'll be treated like a pariah by some. I'm no longer on speaking terms with a handful of people who are very 'intelligent' in their own minds They won't even say hi or fistbump - they cross to the other side of the room.

Congrats on staying the course and following your gut and your own independent reasoning, and being able to wait them out. Similar situation here, office re-opening in July, but they have not yet revised other "precautionary" measures for those who are going back. It won't concern me, as I've made arrangements to continue to WFH for the forseeable future. I believe by the end of this year they will drop the "precautionary" measures and it will be back to business as usual.

Side note: I've worked for this company 15 years, and in that time only one co-worker died. Except for 2021/2022, when five passed away suddenly.

"Doctors baffled".

Wow. I mean, I always knew the unvaxxed would win because our will is stronger than theirs, and it has just been a case of how much suffering do we have to go through until they give up. But is is still striking that the moment has finally arrived for some.

My smaller financial industry company switched to 100% WFH allowed in Spring 2021. The un-vaccinated can go into the office with a manager's exception for work that needs to be done in the office (additionally, medical/religious exception from HR) and they are not super strict about the reasons people say they need to go into the office for, but the un-vaccinated have to wear a mask, which inevitably means a number of unfriendly reactions I would rather avoid (this being this is the Bay Area). I have gone into the office and seen my co-workers a number of time over the past year, but once the rule of masks for everyone got dropped, it gets increasingly hard to slip by unnoticed.

We just got put back on mandatory testing for the unvaxxed… mainly because too many “vaxxinated” are getting sick and of course thats somehow our fault because nobody has pulled their heads out….

They are still playing that charade over there?

I would imagine that here in CA the local DA would be more than happy to make it a criminal case as well. After all, what else have they got to do now that they are ignoring all of the real crimes?
