Default Well I’m officiating my first wedding.

I don’t know if it was me that received the call or my wife who then pushed me into servitude to the Lord.
A couple years ago with no notice my wife volunteered me to fill in as back up for our pastor. It scared this me as I had no experience doing so but it was always something I thought about doing. Two years later I love serving the Lord and the ability to teach his Grace and the absolute beauty of his words. A handful of people at my work know about this part of my life. A co worker asked me to officiate his wedding and am excited to do so. I feel when I share Gods words it totally separates me from my daily life. I’m not concerned with work, family, status nothing just sharing the grace of God.

I never would of thought this would be a path I would take in life. At the end of the day I’m sinner. But the journey for us all to take with our Lord and savior sure is beautiful if you can just sit back and trust in him.

You're actually killing two birds with one stone. Weddings are nothing more than a funeral with cake

Well I guess, less people to complain if they don’t agree with the sermon.

" At the end of the day I am a sinner, " come on bro, if you have placed FAITH & TRUST in Jesus Lord and savior, you are NOT a sinner at the end of the day !
Yes all of us fail here and there, but John in 1st John ( not the gosple of John ) tells if we fail and sin there is grace and repentance for us to be free from it.
Not getting on your case Bro but encouraging you to realize the GRACE given to us.

I got tricked into giving the wedding ceremony honors years ago. Hasn't happened since.

Psalm 1

I differ with the above position.
My view (which is biblically supported) is that a Christian is simultaneously a sinner and righteous before God through imputed righteousness of Jesus.

Our sinful nature still exists even after conversion, which is why we still sin. However when we stand in judgment in front of God, we are declared justified.

Paul considered himself to be still a sinner:

“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners– of whom I am the worst.”
1 Timothy 1:15

"am the worst" is in present tense.

Congrats. Many are simply not cut out to do what you are doing. (speaking at the pulpit)

Thankfully, we are all part of the body, & hopefully, many will find their niche as well.

Funerals are a lot cheaper. Plus the expenses stop at the end of the day.

OP, are they at least both people? Have to ask being it's kali.

It was technically a vow renewal between a traditional couple (man and woman). The sermon I gave was attempting to show the similarities between sacrificing for lent and sacrificing for the ones we love. I wrapped it up with Jesus loveing you every day the same way the couple looked at each other today. It was well received and has lead to possibly more in the future. The Holly Spirt is amazing as we also had a Jr member of our congregation deliver his first sermon this Sunday. It was a great weekend.

Its ok to disagree Bro, I am aware of Paul's statement in 1st Timothy, I regard that as his lifelong regret for the things he did to Christian believers before his conversion, he made mention to that very matter. Anyway, saved by GRACE goes along way against the nature we still deal with.

Psalm 1

Very good Cactus

I too got volunteered for a wedding once, but not to officiate but to be the photographer.

The bride and groom, and the entire wedding party may forget over time some aspects of a wedding...but will never forget the photographer and why he took such and such picture.

My wife's brother was a minister. As with any profession, there are will always be the good, the mediocre, and the not so good.

Sounds like you are on the right track. Keep the faith!

Respectfully
Kyle

You may be correct, but did you factor in the death tax? Gubment always has to get their cut, even in death
