Why are so many reporting COVID infections in CA?
I don’t see much going on here in Utah. No masks anywhere. Still no mask mandates in airports anywhere. Are the ones here on the forum claiming they got the Rona common or rare? |

Antibody Dependent Enhancement + CA's high vaccination rate = high infection rate
The vaccinated and boosted are quickly catching it, spreading it amongst themselves, as well as spreading it to the unvaccinated. The vaccinated don't produce a normal immune response, so are often catching it again just months later. Round and round it goes.

If anyone was paying attention are crooked government and real scientists in the very beginning said Covid cannot survive in the heat of summer past 85°.
The 85 number is that not like an exact number it’s just an area of heat that this virus can’t survive that’s why the flu doesn’t really exist during the summer. The only reason you’re seeing an uptick in infections right now it’s because they got to cover their *** for the mail in ballots just in case they get sued for trying to cheat. It’s just our crooked government and state up to no good as usual |

All I know is that the percentage of people voluntarily wearing face diapers is really high. About a third of the customers (mostly old farts) at SLO Home Depot we’re wearing face diapers a couple days ago. Thankfully, the percentage at Avila and Port San Luis (mostly young people) was almost zero.

Idiots with sniffles running out and getting tested combined with doctors and hospitals getting paid for positive test results.

It appears that the latest omicron variant is spreading and nobody is getting seriously ill. Deaths continue to plummet and hospital ICU capacity is at the optimum level. This is a good thing. It means the virus is playing itself out.
IF we continue to test obsessively we will continue to find out things we don't need to know. The best course of action is to stop all testing of people who are not seriously ill. All covid countermeasures should be scrapped. We are watching our society destroy itself. Yet, the politicians continue to obsess over a mild flu. They are using covid policies to destroy us. Covid is quite lucrative for politicians and the elites, why would they stop? |

Its spreading like wildfire here. My house hold (6 people) all tested positive but I was the only one who got sick and the only one who wasn't vaxxed.
My younger sis is now sick and she had the vax, I haven't heard anything about the rest of the people in her house . My pos SIL and his new gal both had the vax and both got sick. They gave it to my grandson who brought it to my home. My wife wasn't sick at all but she's been forced to take off work because she tested positive. She's an RN and works for the county. 14 day off paid by the county, the state or feds..I mean us. I'm shocked that they haven't shut $#*/ down or brought back the mask mandates. But yes, nothing real serious at all

Maybe "they" are wising up to the reality of covid today. It is spreading fast and is not a serious flu. There is an election in the fall, the economy is imploding, immigration is out of control, and the president is senile. Maybe "they" are not willing to make things worse for fear of loosing power?
I spent several hours outdoors with a person who is now covid positive. That was five days ago. I am covid negative and healthy. I had covid two months ago and have not been vaxed. One example does not mean anything about getting vaxed or not. I'd like to believe that I am protected by natural immunity though. My research indicates that by getting covid you acquire immunity to the whole virus, not just a single spike protein from the Wuhan strain. That should work better, longer, and for variants. We'll see. Last edited by Scota4570; 06-19-2022 at 1:00 PM.. |

It’s weird I’ve been around so many people that have had Covid and I still haven’t gotten it yet. Took care of my mom when she had it and nuthin. I think it might be because I’m in hospitals and clinics all day that I’ve got a natural immunity from a non Covid strain or something either way I’ve given up caring about getting it and have moved on. And I was forced to get vaccinated in order to work but didnt get vaxed until September of last year.

Lots of people flying and traveling now. My area we're at about 3% of total cases have happened in the last two weeks. It's a weird bump but luckily still not highly virulent despite the high contagiousness.

One of our relatives says the same for Virginia where they are. I'd suspect more populated/congested areas are going to have a higher incident of cases.

In my untrained opinion the latest variant is very easily spread, has almost no symptoms in people who have previously had COVID (Vaxed or not) so they are spreading. People who are getting worst symptoms are those who never had it before. It does seem like I'm hearing first hand reports of lots of new cases, most very mild.

No masks required anywhere here since May 2020
Nobody in family vaxxed. We’ve not had COVID. Currently see no statewide fear here. We were one of the first states to shut down testing sites and maybe the only state that no longer allows counties/cities to mandate anything More concerned about Senate gun control and rising despise for Mittens |

Yeah - Mittens is a real albatross for Utah.

I can say that we've seen a HUGE increase in positive Covid tests, whatever that means.

I have to go in for a scan next week (a couple of weeks early) and was told on the phone that a mask will be required.

Wife got it a few weeks ago while visiting Cali. Gave it to me. I had a headache for a day. She was coughing for a week until she took a suppressant then it went away.

There is no explanation on the state dash board: https://covid19.ca.gov/state-dashboard/ How is it different from cases per 100K? Who is being tested? How many? What is the testing criteria?? What kind of test?? IF we are talking PCR blood test and look for antibodies then eventually the positivity rate will be close to 100%. Why are the number of cases per 100K going down while "positivity" goes up?? If you choose a population that is likely to be infected, then test them, you can get any answer you want. IF you picked a few at risk people and tested then you would get a higher than representative of the general population. It looks like they are cherry picking data from a category that was optimized, or just invented, to give an ominous result. The trouble is we do not test the general population so, we have no idea of the actual facts. https://www.wired.com/story/test-pos...covids-spread/ https://shj.cs.illinois.edu/2021-4-27_DetroitNews.pdf Last edited by Scota4570; 06-26-2022 at 2:44 PM.. |

It's, officially, referenced on this page... Tracking COVID-19 in California.
About halfway down the page, there is a link to... Total tests and positivity rate source data. On that page, you won't find the term 'positivity rate;' but, in theory, that's where the data is drawn from to determine it. Back on the original page, it states... Quote:
Now, Johns Hopkins is a bit more detailed with... DECIPHERING U.S. COVID TEST POSITIVITY. For me, what is important there is... Quote:

There is still a lot of drama out there. After two years of hyping cases, people seem incapable of noticing that the symptoms are mostly very mild. A lot of people I know have tested positive, all are vaccinated and are thankful that the vaccines reduced their symptoms. None of the unvaccinated people I know have gotten Covid-19 as far as they know.
Unfortunately, more Karens are wearing masks and acting like the unmasked are exposing them to the plague.

Well I'm in Cali and going through 2nd round of the Virus. Tested +today. Also 2 neighbors (no contact) were sick last week. Also heard people in random places discussing positive test.
So yeah, its running

My check stubs say I have 80 hours Covid credit. I saved my wife’s positive test just for the occasion.
She had it 3 weeks ago without symptoms. Slept in the same bed and I never tested positive. The next heat wave, I may have to take some of that time, I mean get the bug. |
