Default Turkish 8x57 Mauser ammo in 70rnd bandoliers?

The stuff with the silver-colored jacketed bullets on 5-rnd stripper clips, in 70-rnd green cloth bandoliers... what's the going fair price for these nowadays?
Also, are they corrosive?

It is good hot ammo. S ball, which is 150 grain, flat base bullet. Now maybe 40 or 50 a bando when u find it.

Don't shoot it in a Semi-auto.
The corrosive is an issue the volatile nature of the load can damage the action.

Can you describe the jacketed bullets as being round or pointed?

Sounds like a silly question I know, but the 8x57J (0.318") ammo "generally" had round nose, while the 8x57JS (0.323") ammo had pointed bullets.

The older J rounds are more difficult to find and are worth more. The JS rounds are more common.

Best regards,
870classic.

I will second the wise counsel of those above. Hot, dirty, and corrosive to be sure. I have shot hundreds of rounds of it through bolt action Mausers with no issues. It is sort of bottom rung surplus, but worth stocking up on if you find a deal.

I could be off, but I’d say .50 per round or less would be a decent deal, with a couple caveats: It needs to be checked for cracked necks, especially if it hasn’t been stored well. I have encountered some in loose lots that was not safe to shoot. I’d also be mindful of possible hangfires with it.

Last time I bought them they were about $9.00 per bando. I still have a couple around somewhere.
